The Radio Equalizer: Brian Maloney

FRANKEN POTTY TALK

Plus: The Job From Hell, CBS Aids Stern

In the midst of our investigative research, we sometimes let important items slip through the cracks. From February 20, this one's a doozy!

Other than BoreAmerica, a web search shows just about everybody else also missed this bizarre Huffington Post essay by Al Franken's grown daughter Thomasin. Perhaps the left was too embarrassed to draw attention to it?

Call it her Urination Manifesto.

Could proper potty techniques become the sleeper 2006 campaign issue Democrats have so far found elusive?

While a bit too disgusting for the Radio Equalizer to excerpt here, in light of father Al's hilariously-titled "Midwest Values" political action committee (now advertised at Air America's website), it leaves the reader in disbelief.

In what surely deserves to be called the Job From Hell, Randi Rhodes is looking for a new producer.

And in a particularly sloppy move, eccentric assistant John Manzo placed the ad in industry publication All Access:

F/T PRODUCER - The Randi Rhodes Show
Immediate Opening.

Fulltime Producer for Air America’s The Randi Rhodes Show. Ideal candidates...

- Know and love The Randi Rhodes Show

- Eat, sleep and breathe news/politics

- Are experienced in all major aspects of talk radio production...booking, screening, researching, audio editing, remotes, etc.

- Must live in or be willing to relocate to the NYC metro area (studios/offices in Midtown Manhattan)

Top candidates will also possess...

- Photoshop and web editing skills

- Solid audio production skills (beyond just pulling sound bites)

Are you made for this gig? Do you only stop when the work is done? Are you already contemptuous of all other applicants who have DARED to apply for YOUR job?

If you’ve answered yes to all of the above, email a cover letter and resume TODAY to JohnAManzo@gmail.com. EOE.

Let's add to this:

- Must be willing to be willing to accept verbal abuse and play along during Secret Service investigations over show content (which will be blamed on you, of course)

- Must keep cool during depositions when we get sued over show content (probably also your fault, not Randi's)

- Must have a good pair of running shoes (to get to the bank with that paycheck- fast!)

While Don Imus's show may be long past its sell-by date, he sure is lucky with guests. From Drudge:

GREGORY'S GIGGLES: NBCNEWS WHITE HOUSE REPORTER CALLS SHOW WHILE 'DRUNK'?
Thu Mar 02 2006 08:52:09 ET

NBC White House correspondent David Gregory, who apologized last week for calling White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan a "jerk," called into MSNBC's IMUS Thursday morning -- apparently drunk!

[CLICK FOR AUDIO SNIP]

Gregory is traveling with the president in India.

IMUS: Let's go to the White House correspondent David Gregory.

DAVID GREGORY: I'm OK.

IMUS: You can calls us later if you want.

GREGORY: [Laughter] [Laughter] [Laughter] [Laughter]

IMUS: Are you drunk?

GREGORY: [Laughter] [Laughter]

IMUS: Are you all right David?

GREGORY: India is a wonderful language and i've been learning, where's my little sheet here. I've been learning some new phrases to come home. But any way, that being one of them and i just think it's nice.

Are we the only ones who feel CBS is crazy to sue Howard Stern? They're giving him a real shot in the arm.

How? Even after moving to satellite radio, Stern now has back his old enemy at CBS.

And the resulting publicity is already pushing up subscription totals at SIRIUS Satellite Radio.

This ought to fuel Howard's fire for years to come. It's a prime example of corporate egos interfering with a firm's own best interests.

Thanks for your continued and vital Radio Equalizer support, via Amazon orders that begin with clicks here, regardless of what you ultimately order!

  • "While a bit too disgusting for the Radio Equalizer to excerpt here"

Brian will not report on Rush's racist diatribe, will in fact lie his way around it, but won't excerpt a urine story?

...I suppose everyone has their limits...

    Brian’s Lies Watch – Day 9 Post 10

    The anatomy of a lie:

    1) Rush Limbaugh, on his Feb 14 radio show, in talking about the Ohio Hackett/Brown Democratic Primary, said:
    a. “And don’t forget, Sherrord Brown is black” – this was not a lie, but a mistake
    b. He then said, “There’s a racial component here, too”
    2) Rush was then informed by listeners via e-mails that Brown was not black, and was, in fact, white. Paul Hackett was white, as well
    3) Therefore, there was no “racial element” to the story at all
    4) Rush “corrected” his mistake that Brown was black, but DID NOT retract or apologize for the “racial element” remark

He made up the “racial element” angle, obviously. This was Rush’s lie. His next lie:

    1) He said “I’m not gonna apologize, ‘cause I don’t think it’s an insult to be black”
    2) Of course, this is a lie, too, because he should be apologizing for making up the “racial component” of the story

http://radioequalizer.blogspot.com/2006/02/rush-limbaugh-cincinnati-sherrod-brown.html (the link on Brian’s page is about to disappear forever)

Brian Maloney then reported on the story on Feb 20. He related the story as if the only element was the “error” Rush Limbaugh Made about Brown’s race.

Of course, the real story was the “racial component” that Rush made up and then refused to retract.

    Hence, Brian lied as well.

The elements of the story as I’ve stated above are incontrovertible fact.

But don’t believe me, and don’t believe anyone else - Research for yourselves.

  • "So, because Rush said there was a "racial component" to this means he should apoligize?

    Fine. I'll accept that.

Just as soon as every other major news organization who intimated that the federal response indicated the racism of Bush and/or Republicans when, as it turns out more whites died (.pdf).

As soon as they start printing corrections, I'll jump right on Limbaugh's case...

    By BF, at 02 March, 2006 16:28"

BF - why not insist on BOTH?

Ladies and gentlemen - BF steps up to present the perfect failure of partisanship.

If, in fact, "major news organizations" intimated that bush was a racist due to the katrina response, they should be held accountable.

And, as it is a fact that Rush spoke with racist tones when lying about the hackett/brown story, he should be held accountable as well.

Difference between me and BF? I'm demanding the truth - BF is waiting for it.
