AAR Schedule Turmoil, Jerry Springer, Rachel Maddow, Sam Seder
NO END IN SIGHT!
At Air America, It's Schedule Madness
Frankly, it's simply stunning to see the schedule turmoil that continues to consume Air America Radio's staffers. From one day to the next, it's nearly impossible to tell who's going to be hosting what. How do they function in this environment?
Now, it gets worse: the newly- reworked WWRL 1600 AM website unveils yet another new lineup! Yes, today's the day that Air America gets downgraded to a smaller station in New York City and there are some big, last- minute surprises, including:
Syndicated talker Doug Stephan listed as WWRL's 5-6am host. How did that happen?
A complete absence of Rachel Maddow on the new schedule. What has become of her previously- indicated 6-8pm show? Will she continue on Air America's other stations, or has she been terminated? Why does Air America make official announcements of this nature, only to quietly change course a few weeks later?
No word on the fate of midmorning host Mark Riley.
Jerry Springer still in the lineup. How did that happen? Sam Seder had already announced a widely- reported deal he'd reached with the network to take over that slot. At Seder's Majority Report website this week, Sam has suddenly been vague about his timeslot.
Randi Rhodes apparently reclaiming her fourth hour, with Seder following her from 7-10pm, according to the WWRL website. Rhodes was supposed to be cut back to three hours, for a 3-6pm program.
After 10pm, who knows? No word on what will replace the newly- fired Mike Malloy.
In radio, it simply doesn't get any worse than this! For Air America's remaining hosts, your Radio Equalizer's advice is to quickly get those airchecks and resumes polished up and ready for delivery to other potential employers. This is pure insanity.
ALSO: here's a lovely, unhinged comment from a "progressive" radio fan left at the Majority Report site:
Thanks for your continued and vital Radio Equalizer support, via Amazon orders that begin with clicks here, regardless of what you ultimately order!

Maddow announced on yesterday's show that she is staying on in the mornings (heard in maybe 3 markets and the internet) for the next week or so, than moving to evenings, as originally announced. No big deal. I supposed at that point they will change the schedule to fir in Sedar as well. I do agree to an extent, the network seems to be a total mess right now.
As far as the Malloy poster, please I could post stuff from right wingers from the Yahoo message boards, that would make you throw up. don't play that game that "liberals are unhinged", from the posts on yahoo news message boards from infamous posters like "libsRcowards" etc etc, the right is far more unhinged, obsessed with gay sex, and more bigoted than anyone in America. "Zionist" is not a bigoted term, it is a more radical form of Judiasm, which came to rise in the late 19th century, stressing Jewish nationality over religion, thus the U.K handing over Palestine to the Jews, due to "Zionist" pressure. There are orthodox Jews against Zionism, you might want to educate yourselves. Check out this site http://www.nkusa.org
These folks are religious men of the cloth against the state of Isreal, based on teachings of the torah. When people refer to "zionism" it is usually not a slam against Jews, but rather a movement.

MOP:
It doesn't make any sense to keep Maddow in mornings for a "week or so" and then move her to the evening slot. The big move to 1600 was today. This just adds to the confusion.
"I supposed at that point they will change the schedule to fir in Sedar as well." This is speculation.
The reason why it is a "big deal" is that changes are being made on almost a daily basis without AAR's listeners having any clue what is going on. Today, for example, AAR's schedule now lists Jon Elliot as the evening host. Has he been hired? It looks that way.
And the big question remains how Jerry Springer found a way to remain on the schedule after Seder had already been given his slot.
One thing I've noticed is that all of the radio trades have stopped writing about Air America's constant schedule changes. Maybe they've been burned one too many times or just can't keep up.
And Lifa, double-check the meds. CVS must have given you the wrong one.

It sort of "dummies down" the blog.

Is that a stab at my post? My post is FACTUAL, go look at the link I posted for yourself. There is a diffeence betwen Zionism and Judiasm.
brain: Agreed, A.A, best hammer out a final schedule. It is starting to sound like college radio or a leased time station, where anything can come on at any time. There was no need for that post from that other blog. It is a failed attempt to allude that Air America listeners are anti-Jewish. I corrected you on what "Zionism' refes to . I'm tired of this tatic, criticism of "zionism" is not Anti-Jewish

Meanwhile the WLIB site announces it as the "Praise and Inspiration Station". http://www.wlib.com/
By raccoonradio, at 01 September, 2006 15:24
from Wikipedia: "on August 21, 2006, WLIB announced that they would switch to a gospel music format, after considering country music, oldies and even urban talk from Radio One."
>>country music
Didn't happen, but...
Imagine THIS format switch: a "Blame
America First" AAR show, suddenly broken up by an ID: "THIS is WLIB,
New York's new home for country!"
(Darryl Worley's "Have You Forgotten" follows, plus "Politically UN-correct" by Gretchen
Wilson and Merle Haggard...) :)
"Cause I'm for the Bible

Me and old Hag

When people refer to "zionism" it is usually not a slam against Jews, but rather a movement."
Well, Strawman, let's see what some "people" have to say about "zionism" and try to analyze whether or not it is a slam against Jews...
"There is no doubt that the new wave (of attacks) in Palestine will wipe off this stigma (Israel) from the face of the Islamic world....Anybody who recognizes Israel will burn in the fire of the Islamic nation’s fury (while) any (Islamic leader) who recognizes the Zionist regime means he is acknowledging the surrender and defeat of the Islamic world....As the Imam [Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini] said, Israel must be wiped off the map." - Speech by Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Associated Press, October 26, 2005
"Oh Allah, liberate our Al-Aksa Mosque from the defilement of the occupying and brutal Zionists… Oh Allah, punish the occupying Zionists and their supporters from among the corrupt infidels. Oh Allah, scatter and disperse them, and make an example of them for those who take heed." - Sheikh Abd Al-Rahman Al-Sudayyis, imam of Islam’s most holy mosque, Al-Haram in Mecca Sermon on Saudi Channel 1, July 15, 2005
"Just as Ramallah, Gaza, Nablus, and Jenin are Palestinian cities, so are Haifa, Nazareth, Jaffa, Ramle, Lod, Beersheba, Safed, and others Palestinian cities....The Zionist Jews are foreigners in this land. They have no right to live or settle in it. They should go somewhere else in the world to establish their state and their false entity...They must leave their homes...We do not believe in so-called ’peace with Israel’ because peace cannot be made with Satan. Israel is the greatest Satan." - Palestinian Christian cleric Father ’Atallah Hanna, sermon in the Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Jerusalem, January 19, 2003.
And of course, my personal favorite:
"If they [Jews] all gather in Israel, it will save us the trouble of going after them worldwide. — Hezbollah leader Sheikh Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, Lebanon Daily Star, October 23, 2002
All these quotes and more can be found here.
The islamofascists - and their outward and tacit supporters - do not differentiate between "Judaism" and "Zionism." As far as they are concerned, every Joooo is an evil Zionist, and every Zionist is an evil Joooo.
They want Israel to be gone. Disappear. Forever. Preferably with all of its former Jewish inhabitants drowned in the Mediterranean Sea, but as long as they are dead, it don't matter.
If, as you suggest, the Zionists were responsible for the UK putting out the Balfour Declaration in 1917, thus ultimately resulting in the 1947 UN partition, then it follows that the anti-Zionists call for the destruction of the current state of Israel.
Those "religious men of the cloth" - and you - currently find common cause with the Splodeydopes.
I knew you were stupid. I didn't know you were insane.

>>Haggerd is for the working man, he should be a Democrat
Actually I believe he is, and he is against the war. From 2004, CBS:
"While Toby Keith, Darryl Worley and Charlie Daniels have scored hits with patriotic, war-themed songs, others such as Willie Nelson, _Merle Haggard_ and Nanci Griffith released anti-war, or at least questioning, songs that went nowhere."
I do have Merle's 2 CD best of, The Lonesome Stranger. Here's one for Ted K.: "Tonight...the bottle...
let me down... "
By raccoonradio, at 02 September, 2006 04:34
Sadly, so-called conservatives don't believe anyone HAS any right to question this war, or anything else these morons have brought this country down with.
Oh, well...

JD Those "religious men of the cloth" - and you - currently find common cause with the Splodeydopes.
Why don't you read the link for yourself. The State Of Isreal goes against the Jewsih religion ITSELF(according to thousands of scholars), so yes "zoninism" has very little to do with Judiasm. I'm sure you know more than Talmud scholars, right? Give me a break. The balfour declaration is the EXACT reason why you have the "Islamo-fascists" you quoted in the political landscape today. You just don't understand the heart of the dispute, the Zionists claimed religious rights to the land(based on their own version of the religion) starting in the late 19th century, the extremist muslims added religion into what was once a claim for land( over the last 20 or so years) Was the original right to Isreal, not a "zionist" idea, based on a subjective biblical claim? Zionist Jews, claim Isreal based on the bible, other Jews, claim it is NOT a legitamate claim based on the Talmud and Torah. So do you know better? I'm not stipid nor crazy, I'm giving you an objective view of the conflict, you are taking extremist quotes out of context. The Neturei Karta are not on the "side of the terrorists" nor wack jobs either, they are stating their beliefs based on Judiasm itself. This is a HUGE debate among Jewish scholars, ignored by right wing media, who paint Palestianians as nut-jobs with no claim to anything omitting the original origan of the conflict. You can not simplify the topic by taking radical Palestinains and other quotes and ignoring the heart of the conflict, a religious claim to land by Zionists. Would the Muslims have such a hatred of Jews if this movement never started? There was a small amount of Muslim-Jewish conflict pre-Isreal, but hardly the amount of hatred seen today. What started the hatred? Was it the people you so quickly quote? Call me "Strawman" all you want, I give you substance and things to think about, you give me "strawman" arguments and ad-hom attacks. I have been guilty of ad-hom in the past as well (I must admit), but ad-hom and "easy answers" is all you seem to have.
By Minister of Propaganda, at 03 September, 2006 19:15
Ad-hom? Easy answers? You stated that when "people refer to "zionism" it is usually not a slam against Jews, but rather a movement." I gave you conclusive proof that there are individuals of Arab descent in the ME who consider "zionism" and "judaism" to be interchangeable. That you can't, or won't, read what is spoon-fed to you is your problem, not mine.
And FYI, I did read the website, and quite frankly the Neturei-Karta have about as much influence and reality in day-to-day Israeli life as does the now-outlawed Kahane Khai movement. If anything, they are the Amish of Israel, rejecting anything but the law of the Torah as they understand it. Fine. But in the meantime, there is a nation called Israel, surrounded by anywhere from 10 to 20 million people who are sworn to its very destruction and the murder most gruesome of all the inabitants within. To suggest that Neturei Karta are anywhere close to the mainstream of Israeli thought or practice is either spin or out-and-out idiocy. I'll leave it to your choice as to which one best fits what passes for your "thought" process. Rest assured, I know for certain which descriptive I would use in your case.
But make no mistake, were the NK train of thought come to the fore, then the WW2 Holocaust would look like a fargin' garden picnic compared to the carnage seen when the Arabs come a'calling.
Put simply, NK and the Splodeydopes find common cause - the elimination of Israel, by any means necessary. The end result of that will be the deaths of millions of Jews. And that is precisely what you are advocating if you put forth the NK argument.
It's easy for the NK members in the States to preach their insanity. Perhaps they should spend some time standing on the corners in Haifa and see what their fellow Jews think. And perhaps so should you.

MOP says: Would the Muslims have such a hatred of Jews if this movement never started? There was a small amount of Muslim-Jewish conflict pre-Isreal, but hardly the amount of hatred seen today.
Small amount of conflict???
Wrong!
Time for a refresher course in history. This hatred has been going on for generations.
The Muslim animosity toward Jews goes all the way back to the days of Abraham.
The Jews are descendants of Abraham’s son Isaac, who was the promised son and would inherit his father's possessions.
The Arabs are descendants of Abraham’s son Ishmael, who was the son of a slave woman.
There was animosity between the two sons. When Ishmael was caught mocking Isaac, Abraham sent Ishmael away. This caused even more contempt. The religion of Islam, of which a majority of Arabs are adherents, has made this hostility more profound.
The Qur'an contains contradictory instructions for Muslims regarding Jews. At one point it instructs Muslims to treat Jews as brothers, and at another point commands Muslims (ROP!) to attack Jews who refuse to convert to Islam.
The Qur’an also introduces a conflict as to which son of Abraham was truly the son of promise. The Hebrew Scriptures say it was Isaac. The Qur’an says it was Ishmael. The Qur’an teaches that it was Ishmael that Abraham almost sacrificed to the Lord, not Isaac. This debate over whom was the son of promise continues on to the current time and fuels the hostility.

Benson: Muslim animosity toward Jews goes all the way back to the days of Abraham.
Actually I liked reading your post for once. Interesting conflicts in the Quaran you pointed out, but can you site anything else other than animosity before the creation of the state of Isreal? Any historical pogroms by muslims against Jews before this conflict over land in the late 19th century? Good post, I hand it to you on that one. Well written and without insults. As far as animosity, Christians still have animosity towards Jews over Christ's killing.
J.D: comparing the Neturei Karta to the Amish is an interesing analogy, but remember this, many many religious Jews profess to live by the Torah, but omit the fact that the Neturei Karta repeatedly make. It seems to me sems many main stream Hasidic and Orthodox Jews are re-writing their own religion in order to justify Isreal's existance. Neturei Karta may not be mainstream, but if religious Jews profess to live by the Torah, it sems the Neturei Karta's viewpoint is the genuine one and mainstream judiasm is re-written to justify the right for Isreal to exist. I'm in the middle on this issue but simply find Neturei Karta very interesting and worth mentioning. If they are going by strict torah law as the Amish go by strict Christian code, the Neturei Karta's opinion is valid in this argument. Don't marginalize it
By Minister of Propaganda, at 04 September, 2006 13:00
I do marginalize their opinion, because they have chosen to marginalize themselves by pledging allegiance to a suicide pact. Furthermore, they consider the Israelis to be - in their own words from their own site - "behaving in a consistently barbaric manner towards the Palestinians."
Anyone who holds this position is so divorced from reality that their views deserve to be ridiculed, much less marginalized.
By SierraSpartan, at 04 September, 2006 17:40
"behaving in a consistently barbaric manner towards the Palestinians."
seems to be a belief by 90% of the world, mmmmmmm.

Air America is a mess, but it appears they are sorting it out with the firing of Mike Malloy. Rebuilding the party from the inside-out takes time, but this is a great step. Malloy often got the hippie-fringe in the party wet, but rarely did much for the critical thinkers.
The lineup is:
Majority Report (Sam Seder) 9-12
Al Franken (12-3)
Randi Rhodes (3-6)
Rachel Maddow (6-8)
Who knows whats happening after that. I guess Jerry Springer might be the late night thing. They need to work on that weekend programming.
The right is great at finding and developing talent (television, media, journalists, etc...) and they've been doing it since the 60s. Let's give the Democratic Party some time...they caught on a little late.
