Shuster 'Pimped Out' Flap Parallels Imus Kerfuffle
NAPPY-HEADED PIMPS
MSNBC Again Calls Media Standards Into Question
Once again proving the mainstream media takes its orders directly from the left- wing establishment, MSNBC's David Shuster has quickly become 2008's Don Imus with a comment that dared to offend the Clintons and Media Matters.
During a Thursday television interview, Shuster asked his guest this about Chelsea Clinton's role in her mother's campaign: "doesn't it seem as if Chelsea is sort of being pimped out in some weird sort of way?"
Never mind the fact that Chelsea is no longer a child, she's now 27 and completely immersed in the world of politics. Nor should we apparently consider how "pimped out" is so commonly used today in ways that have nothing to do with prostitution.
The biggest issue here is how the Clintons, with help from the Soros- backed Media Matters crowd, are now directly dictating network programming standards and even MSNBC's staff roster, since Shuster has been suspended and might face termination.
Newsbusters adds this important perspective:
The incident has shades of last year's Don Imus- led "nappy- headed hos" firestorm, which also centered around MSNBC. Because the I-Man's comment was far more offensive, it took a few days for that flap to become completely overblown.
By contrast, Shuster's situation had become ridiculous within minutes.
Chelsea's a big girl now and should realize that the rules change when one enters politics. But according to ABC News, it isn't clear what she thinks about the Shuster flap.
And before being forced to apologize, Shuster sent this message to a key Clinton staffer:
There's one more issue here: have you noticed how these flaps have originated with a network nobody watches? When your Radio Equalizer highlights the extreme rhetoric coming from low- rated Air America, the left is dismissive. So what makes this such a huge outrage?

Hillary's front-group, Media Matters, is just thrilled about this announcement. What a shock! Those that can stand the astounding hypocrisy should go here and here.
Maybe even more sickening, NBC actually sent a statement to these shills apologizing for Shuster's statements.
Imagine that.
Can you remember NBC ever sending an apology to President Bush for any of the disgusting comments made by Shuster, Olbermann, or any of the other so-called journalists employed by this abomination?

Nice to hear from you, philippe.
It is a fact that chelsea has made calls to superdelegates, as your campaign colleagues have acknowledged. It is also a fact that the campaign has reacted quite harshly to any media who have sought to interview chelsea. That was the point. By slamming any reporter who seeks to chat with chelsea while simultaneously having chelsea do campaign tasks such as trying to convince super delegates to support her mom, that's the reference.
Chelsea is polite and does a fine job of saying "I don't want to talk.". But for campaign staff to then jump down the throat of a reporter who seeks to talk to chelsea...that's an issue.

For once I agree with Brian. What was the big deal??? If Schuster was doing a news cast that is one thing, but for a silly pundit show, the slang term was acceptable...
your wrong on one thing, MSNBC has a decent viewership, it's only a matter of time before Olberman beats Falafel man, the silliest man on television, O'riley is a joke

Hmmm, so Schuster made what appears to be a perfectly valid comment about using the services of someone to promote a candidate for elected office which is amazing in an of itself considering Schuster's grip on reality is very tenuous at best...
Then again using the phrase, "pimped out" regarding the daughter of Hillary & Vince Foster is a bit questionable...

Brian,
I agree this is a BIG overreaction. However, I can't really believe that you don't see the difference between MSNBC and Air america. MSNBC is part of the nation's largest news organization (in terms of total viewers), and is hosting presidential debates.
