Video Clip Doctored To Smear Talker John Gibson

SMEAR PATROL RETURNS

HuffPo Hits Fox's Gibson With Edited Clip

*** NEW: GIBSON MAY SUE OVER SMEAR ***
*** DAILY KOS FAILS TO RETRACT POST ***
*** DOCTORED VERSION HERE ***

In what may be the sleaziest attempt to smear a conservative since "phony solidiers", the liberal Huffington Post website is in hot water today after posting a clip of Fox's John Gibson later found to have been doctored.

Though it has since retracted the story, our HuffPo friends have tried to blame another site, TVNewser, for the mess rather than take direct responsibility. Faced with the fakery, some deranged commenters have decided to take cheap shots at FOX nonetheless, according to The Jawa Report.

From the original, inaccurate HuffPo story:

At the end of a long and pointless conversation between two Fox News reporters covering a zoo escape, John Gibson compared Attorney General Eric Holder to a monkey.

A monkey escaped from the Woodland park Zoo in Seattle and despite the fact that authorities are "taking this very seriously," Julie Banderas and Harris Faulkner were not, cracking jokes about the monkeys' bright blue scrotum.

At 2:48, they toss to John Gibson who complains that he can't get away with saying "bright blue scrotum" on the radio then follows that up by saying, "We were talking about Eric Holder today on the radio and his bright blue scrotum."

According to Kerry Picket at NewsBusters, here is what was really said:

JULIE BANDERAS: Alright, I'm going to go up to Trace standing by with John Gibson. Take it away Trace.

GALLAGHER: She just gave it to us. Julie, We were just talking about about the bright blue scrotum that we heard twice up here, and even the radio..John's like saying, 'I can't even say that on the radio for crying out loud'...bright blue scrotum...a monkey on the loose.

GIBSON: We're talking about talking about Eric Holder today on the radio and his comment that this is a...

AUDIO DROP: Nation of cowards.

GIBSON: Nation of cowards.

Posting his findings hours before other sites, it appears cable news blogger Johnny Dollar was the first to uncover the deception. In an update posted at his site, Dollar points out that some left-wing smear sites, DailyKos included, have yet to post a retraction.

Here's Johnny's unadulterated video of the actual broadcast:

In fact, as of 13:28,
Kos is still running this version:

FOX News/John Gibson suggests Eric Holder is a monkey (really!)

Well, here we go. Apparently we're going to need federal legislation to prohibit conservatives from even discussing monkeys, using the word "monkey" or any such thing because for the 2nd day in a row we have a conservative, this times the horrible John Gibson of FOX News, putting his foot into his mouth and down his throat with a comment suggesting that a notable African American is a monkey.

Essentially, here's what happens. The anchor/reporter are talking about a monkey that has escaped from a zoo in Seattle. The anchor then shows viewers her desktop "screensaver" (actually desktop background) that has a monkey, which, when angry, has a "bright blue scrotum." (Attention, "bright blue scrotum," please pick up the white courtesy phone marked "next internet meme.") She says "bright blue scrotum" a bunch of times, and this is funny.

She then throws it to John Gibson, who says, and this is a quote, "We were talking about Eric Holder today on the radio, and his bright blue scrotum."

WTF?!?!?!?!

Please tell me there's an alternate explanation that my overly sensitive liberal brain is not grasping. Please.

At TVNewser, Gibson himself has spoken out regarding the smear campaign:

The Huffington Post, in its zeal to slime me, went over the line and posted a phony, fabricated quote, attributed it to me, and which actually constitutes a lie, and a slander. The Huffington Post plays fast and loose on a regular basis, but this time it was caught in an out and out fabricated falsehood.

How many left-wing smear sites will "forget" to apologize for their participation in this deception? Let's hold them accountable.

  • IMHO ~ Gibson looks and sounds like a guy that doesn't know that his brother is also his father . . .

  • How long will it be before someone successfully sues one or more of these liberal smear sites for posting libelous materials, fabricated materials, etc.? Frankly I wouldn't shed a single tear if HuffPo or Kos were successfully sued. They keep pushing the envelope thinking they are protected but I imagine one or more of these smear sites run by liberal extremists will one day (perhaps sooner than later) cross the line and pay for it in court.

  • I have listened to John
    Gibson on radio. Delayed
    broadcast on the Apple 970.
    Gibson had gotten into trouble
while on FNC on some racist
    comments.

  • The whole thing is so ridiculous that nothing will come of it, because no one with any sense will want any thing to do with it all.

Besides, Gibson is lower tier, and no one's going to stick out their neck to save him, when he'll be the first to fold under any sort of pressure...

  • Wow we have another liberal moron as if there is any other kind. What a waste of skin.

  • Hash:

You must be unaware that Bathtub Boy recently mocked Gibson for hitting his head when he fell off a horse. Gibson explains that while he did fall off a horse and did seriously injure himself, but that it was his butt that hit something hard, not his head.

The bizarre part is that Olbermann actually did seriously hurt himself when his head collided with a train--that is why KO cannot drive and uses public transport to get around, why a limo used to pick him the times he decided to get out of his bathtub on the "Monica" days during his first stint at MSDNC.

While Gibson is not top tier, he is notable, and I think this liberal blogojeer will be remembered.

  • Philip (MoPoop) and Hash demonstrate the dishonesty and evil of the left. Gibson did nothing wrong, HuffPo and Kos did, but where is their wrath pointed at? Fox and Gibson. What a pair of creeps.

  • Chromium, I think Gibson's best bet is to play this one down...the public is REALLY beginning to react against any sort of foolishness or attention-whoring from the commentariat...that won't bode well, as budget cuts and in-house personal vendettas conspire to make the industry a minefield for all of these media professionals.

I honestly believe that Olbermann works the nerves of more than you realize...I've heard his projected career longitevity compared to that of Limbaugh, and I just disagree...he's the personality type to shoot himself in the foot (again), and, from his vantage point, what does he have to rail against, anymore?

"While Gibson is not top tier, he is notable, and I think this liberal blogojeer will be remembered..."

In today's prevalent climate of disrespect and contempt? No way...in another few weeks, Barky's incompetence will kick into overdrive, and this'll all seem like small potatoes (although, I must agree, impressions may remain...)

    Speaking of which:

Fudgie? Now you KNOW you get me hard, when you speak your righteous indignation, in unknown tongues, and flash your eyes in defiance...

    I've missed you.

I promise I won't be so rough with you again. Believe me...

  • Hey Brian, I just checked the Daily Kos link. The author of the thread has finally admitted the video was a fake, and he issued an apology - sort of. It's a weak one (I still don't like Gibson, but I do apologize), but I guess it still counts as an apology. Dude, you might want to update the headline.

  • R-Equalizer gets ridiculed by DKos.

"It won't boggle the mind to suggest that conservatism dominates the political dial.
There's a blog dedicated to the destruction and suppression of progressive talk.
Its name is quite telling: "Radio Equalizer."
Which is exactly what its operator, Brian Moloney - or Limbaugh - DOESN'T want: the equalization of radio.
It's the classic conservative bait and switch: call it exactly the opposite of what it is."

  • Since you're reading HuffPo anyway, I find it interesting that you haven't commented on this article.

Then again, Sean Hannity probably ordered you not to talk about it.
