Ed Schultz Will Include 'Psycho Talk' Segment On MSNBC Show
MIRROR-FREE ZONE
Schultz Calls Opponents 'Psycho', Ignores His Own Past
*** UPDATE: DEBUT RATINGS NOW RELEASED, SEE BELOW ***
Is the home of Ed Schultz a mirror-free zone?
Judging by the latest rhetoric from MSNBC's newest egomaniac, one could imagine this guy not possessing a great deal of self-awareness. The syndicated libtalker's cable show debuted yesterday and we'll soon find out if anyone noticed.
But it was what he said during yesterday's radio program that really jumped off the page. Take a look:
Yes, Schultz has announced that his new cable show will feature a regular segment called "Psycho Talk"! This from a hothead with a history of his own shaky behavior.
A refresher:
In August 2007, Schultz made questionable racial remarks, but was spared public scrutiny because frankly, nobody was listening to his show other than us.
In September 2007, Schultz got into a fight with a man in a Minnesota bar after the patron wrongly assumed Big Eddie was still a conservative, unaware of his phony "conversion" just in time to sign a syndicated libtalk radio deal.
On the campaign trail last year, one of Schultz's tirades led to an apology from the Obama campaign.
After again losing his temper, Schultz in October 2008 walked off the set of Fox & Friends right in the middle of a live segment.
Later that month, Big Eddie absolutely blew his top when a liberal expressed mild criticism over his approach to Democratic campaigning, screaming while the caller remained remarkably calm. It was a case study in Bad Radio 101.
And if we haven't supplied enough examples here, NewsBusters has a half-dozen more here.
Outside of his explosive rage disorder, Schultz has ongoing credibility issues, including having been bought and paid for by the Democratic Party several years ago. That tie-in became especially clear when Schultz suddenly appeared in the front row during a White House press briefing.
Between his easily-triggered meltdowns and fishy ideological positioning, it's hard to imagine how effective Schultz will be on cable television. When will the next blow-up send him right over the edge?
UPDATE: With Big Ed's first overnight ratings now released, NBC suits can only be disappointed. There's no sign of the curiosity factor that fueled early success for Rachel Maddow on MSNBC and Glenn Beck on FOX.
Instead, he took a distant third place, with 247,000 viewers in the adults 25-54 demo and 725,000 overall. That's a mere one-third of FOX's performance at that hour.
Will it get better from here, or will the Ed Show be short-lived?

SCHULTZ (47:53): Why didn't you talk like that when Bush was in office? You're a phony, Newt! And you're not a Catholic! You're just making everybody think you are! C'mon! Now tell me, Newt, how does the Pope feel about striking North Korea right early on, huh? Where does he stand on that? What a phony! What a complete phony! The Newtster's back at it! He's first up on Psycho Talk! He doesn't know what he is! He doesn't know who he's married to!

Please Brian. If Ed was still a conservative you would be on your knees praising him. So he has a temper, so does Bill Oriley. Remember when Bill O tossed the son of a 9-11 victom off his show for mentioning that America was once allies with the Taliban?
No temper there... right?
Lets not forget the harassment suit underway after that incident of stalking a few weeks back.
If Bill O choked someone, you would ignore it, and attack this Big Ed guy.
You are infuriated that Schultz, like 80% of America, rejected conservatism
AMERICA REJECTS CONS
AMERICA REJECTS CONS
GET USED TO IT
Guess that is ok when a right wionger has a temper, and unaccptable when a slightly leftist host has a problem?
I think Brian fears Big Ed. Personally i find Big Ed, boring, but jusdging by the way Brian is shrieking about him, Maloney is shaking in his boots, that another populist leftist is on the TV now. Unlike Madow, he does not fit the "lib" stereotype.
Live with it, conseratism is dead, conservatism is a failed ideology, America has fully rejected you, no matter how bad Obama does, America will NEVER vote for the party of Hannity and Rush, EVER AGAIN
The 90's are over, conservatism is dead, Reagan is dead. Newt is irrelevant.
Get a life Brian, and find a normal job like us worknig people. Sucking up to Rush is not a job
If Big Ed makes Brian Baloney crap his pants, GO BIG ED
When a freak like Maloney starts painitng his shorts brown, you know Ed is doing someting right
Ohhh Brian, you f*c*ing right wing coward... BIG ED!!!
did you crap your pants again?

I've said it before and I'll say it again:
Ed Schultz: the poster boy for liberal lunacy.
By Carl, at 07 April, 2009 16:53
And another classless and clueless liberal extremist (BigED) proves me correct once again.
They make it so easy.
By Carl, at 07 April, 2009 17:18
Will the Ed show continue even with low ratings on MSNBC? Probably (as long as Schultz doesn't do anything truly embarrassing on-air which, based on his past, is a distinct possibility) since GE execs have no clue as to how to increase ratings in the long term. It's doubtful they can or will find any liberal talker to host a show that will garner any long-term ratings growth. It seems MSNBC is dieing a slow, painful, lingering death as a cable news outlet (with CNN joining in the macabre spiral) as if it is suffering from some sort of incurable disease.
We shall see how the Schultz show goes in the future. If the initial ratings are any indicator and if those ratings follow the same pattern as Maddow's, I expect Schultz' ratings in several months to become embarrassingly low but for whatever reason, MSNBC will still allow him face-time and probably have him make guest appearances on Olbermann, Maddow and Matthews shows to try to get people interested in him.
That is, if he doesn't self-destruct along the way.
By Carl, at 07 April, 2009 20:40
However, Schultz scored huge ratings among Buchanan voters in Palm Beach.

Carl
You have the IQ of a landlug, I'm ot a liberal, I a pro union libertarian, simple as that.
The rights ignorance, hatred of the working class and dishonesrty lost me years ago, and Im definatly not a liberal. Cons, your ignorane turns off thinking Americans, you really would have a base, if you did not act ignorant, ignore reality, and lie non stop. America is sickened by your behavior. You have NO MORE BASE, only talk shows. The LEFT RULES POLITICS, because they are more honest. The right has lied, questioned peoples patriotism, destroyed unions and supported fauiled drug policies for decades, blindly worshipping ronald Reagan, and tak show hosts. This is why 25% of the nation are registered Republicans. You make people SICK.
You do not have to be a liberal, toy be repulsed by the behavior of the foaming at the mouth rabid right. Look at how you are acting over a talk show. Shrieking, crying, crapping your pants, because i moderate Democrat got a TV show. YOU ARE FASCISTS. Freaking out, because a different view is on the TV, other than the crap Hannity spews out
back to Ed Schultz
and Those numbers sparky are around what that idiot Chris Matthews gets everyday. Matthews is not gonig anywhere
You are clueless, Carl, actually those numbers are better than the early Chris Matthews
Carl, go back to that Associates Degreee carrtying loser, Hannity. He has done wonders for your brain
You live in an imaginary world, whee only lib and con exist. You can not think outside the box, you can't think at all, because your masters instructed you not too
99% of the nation is like me, a hybrid of political ideals, not just left, right, lib,con
Step out into humanuty and leave your basement, you mutated freak

MoPOOP,
You are the deranged one. Seek help and stop drinking the kool-aid.
By PCD, at 08 April, 2009 12:04
Libs like CONARE really amuse me because they think it they adopt a different label it somehow changes what they are. A painted zebra is still a zebra and a lib spouting off liberal nonsense with such hatred and vileness is a liberal extremist. I another comment section addressing some other far leftists I wrote the following which also applies to our friend CONARE:
If what you have written is any indication of your thought process, we can safely conclude:
a) You're not very intelligent
b) You're not very honest
c) Facts seem to elude you
d) You lack civility
e) You lack eloquence
f) You lack logic
g) You take delight in misrepresenting and denigrading those who disagree with you
h) You are crude
i) You lack social graces
Basically the characteristics of a radical extremist. Then by the content of your own words you show yourself to indeed be a liberal although you call yourself a libertarian. CON, you are obviously no libertarian but a liberal extremist trying, and failing miserably, to masquerade as a libertarian. But your own words betray your liberal mindset. Thank you for playing and we have the home version of the game for you as a parting gift.
CON, just a little advice for you to ponder: don't try to play with the big dogs when you (CONARE) are peeing with the puppies.

Lefties are still seeking a Nirvana on the airwaves. Getting their butts kicked up between their shoulder blades, MSNBC has rolled out another guaranteed loser.
Lefties like to think conservatism is dead. We'll see.

for all you vapid neocons, guess what? we had an election - and America won!! Deal with it!
By a4ever2009, at 08 April, 2009 15:02
Try not to choke on the champagne you're chugging, BIGED ... All anger is not created equal, despite your doofus views to the contrary. There's a difference between justifiable anger from O'Reilly and Schultz's pathological rage.
By Jack Coleman, at 08 April, 2009 15:14
I wonder how long it will be until Ed starts naming Fox News personalities as his Pyscho talkers, like Olbermann with his WPITW. He's already attacked Glenn Beck on air.
With the ratings as they are, it is a good tactic to try and get their name mentioned on-air by Fox News.

Your story about the so called Bar fight is completely false. I am from the local area, & that is not what really happened. The Fargo Forum posted an inaccurate story about the entire story. The Forum has a pattern of inaccurate stories. I read the article & I know the owner of the place where this occurred & have several friends who witnessed the entire event (small town). The man was from out of town & came to the area to visit a relative & went there with for the purpose of harassing Ed & his wife Wendy. Get your facts straight before you start blogging!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AHHEM,DEAR POSTERS LISTED ABOVE,
Where are you now?
Interesting how Ed is big on buying American only products, yet built, owns and runs a fishing lodge in CANADA!
Interesting on how ED claims to be the spot where there are no call screens on his poorly rated radio show, claims his blog is where American come to talk, then allows his three stooges fan club (Vern, M and Rex) censor or remove conservative posts on his blog.
Hey Big Ed, chew on this for a minute, does your position that the
polls showing a "majority" of Americans want taxes increased on the rich and therefore the GOP should follow those poll results also apply to the the Pro Abortion
folks when it comes to polls showing the majority Americans do not favor late term or partial birth abortions?
Bet it pisses you off that you cant get this post removed!

When Palin said "Journalists and pundits should not manufacture a blood libel that serves only to incite the very hatred and violence that they purport to condemn." she's talking about Ed Schultz and the personalities of his ilk designed to keep the rhetoric heated and personal attacks rolling. His Psycho Talk segment is appropriately named.
