White House Correspondents Dinner Fiasco Aids Opposition

A BITCH CALLED WANDA

At Dinner For Establishment Elites, Hatred On Display

*** UPDATE: SO FAR, NO RESPONSE FROM RUSH LIMBAUGH ***

For her unhinged "comedic" meltdown Saturday evening, Barack Obama's political opponents owe Wanda Sykes an enormous debt of gratitude. Thanks to her hate-filled performance at the annual Washington Correspondents' Dinner, the true nature of this regime has been revealed for all to see.

Instead of spending the next two years convincing voters of the ruling left's nasty, vindictive and obsessive behavior, conservatives and other non-believers can now focus on building support for their ideas. Wanda's taken care of the rest.

Just inside one evening, there was an overwhelming amount of hatred on display, all of which should benefit her targets, especially Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and talk radio as a whole.

The atmosphere of self-indulgence by power-mad elites ought to give every American pause.

In particular, this snippet has attracted a great deal of attention:

Her cheap shot at Palin:

And here, Obama himself low-class jabs at both Limbaugh and RNC Chairman Michael Steele:

What it means:

Wanda's hope that Rush Limbaugh's kidneys would fail, met with outright laughter from Obama, exposes Barack's true personality in a way many Americans had yet to witness. Further undermining her credibility was the attempt to portray the talk titan as a terrorist.

Sykes' extreme misrepresentation of Limbaugh's "I hope he fails" comment underscores the dirty nature of the left's political tactics.

Her Sarah Palin "joke" reveals how the "progressive" left still sees the Alaskan governor as a key threat going forward.

Obama's need to reinforce Wanda's nasty "humor" with his own tacky shots at Steele and Limbaugh make clear he fears them more than anyone else. While one would expect that regarding the latter, Steele is a surprise, considering his underwhelming performance running the GOP.

In laughing out loud during these clearly mean-spirited "jokes", Barack's lack of discretion indicates ongoing overconfidence that could ultimately lead to his political undoing.

The inability of Washington beltway elites to hold an event without making at least one reference to Limbaugh in a derisive manner indicates an unhealthy obsession.

Just when it appeared Obama's entourage might move on to other targets, they're back to bashing Limbaugh and other talk hosts. Once again, the medium will benefit from the renewed attention.

Predictably, the mainstream media has tried to downplay these indiscretions, but the clips have spread across the Internet and the blogosphere has been fed enough material to sustain it until the next election. Canada's CBC took a particularly dishonest approach, making it appear that Sykes had been tough on Obama.

At LA Weekly's Hollywood Insider, Nikki Finke offers a particularly astute observation:

I've been to the White House Correspondents Dinner. And, if history is any judge, then comedians asked to perform there seem to do best when they joke with gentle jibes rather than go for the jugular. Someone should have reminded Wanda Sykes about that before tonight. Because not since Don Imus roughed up Bill Clinton at the annual event has a comedian been so mean-spirited. But, unlike Imus, Wanda Sykes didn't lay a glove on the sitting president Barack Obama. Instead, she reserved her barbs for George W. Bush, John McCain, Dick Cheney, Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity. I'm not saying pols and media don't deserve to have the piss taken out of them. But even watching the WHCA dinner on television, viewers saw the room grew very quiet and then erupt as Sykes seemed to cross the line with what was more harsh partisanship than funny comedy.

Interestingly, at almost the same time, a CBS golf analyst was forced to apologize for a similar over-the-line comment about Nancy Pelosi, according to the AP:

CBS Sports golf analyst David Feherty apologized Sunday to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid for a morbid joke that went bad in a Dallas magazine.

Feherty, one of the most popular golf analysts for his sharp wit and self-deprecating humor, was among five Dallas residents who wrote for "D Magazine" on former President George W. Bush moving to Dallas.

"From my own experience visiting the troops in the Middle East, I can tell you this though," Feherty wrote toward the end of his column. "Despite how the conflict has been portrayed by our glorious media, if you gave any U.S. soldier a gun with two bullets in it, and he found himself in an elevator with Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Osama bin Laden, there’s a good chance that Nancy Pelosi would get shot twice, and Harry Reid and bin Laden would be strangled to death."

Feherty, a former Ryder Cup player who grew up in Northern Ireland, has gone to Iraq over Thanksgiving the past two years to visit with U.S. troops, and he created a foundation to help wounded soldiers.

"This passage was a metaphor meant to describe how American troops felt about our 43rd president," Feherty said in a statement. "In retrospect, it was inappropriate and unacceptable, and has clearly insulted Speaker Pelosi and Senator Reid, and for that, I apologize. As for our troops, they know I will continue to do as much as I can for them both at home and abroad."

Shouldn't Sykes and Obama follow Feherty's example?

  • Don't forget to criticize the Obamas. They laughed heartily at jokes about kidney failure and the 9/11 attack.

I never heard of Wanda Sykes. From what I've seen in blog posts today I haven't missed anything. Just from looking at her and listening to her "jokes" it's obvious she is another low-class hoodrat trash friend of the hoodrat Obamas. Other than that I don't care for her. People have said she is a comedian and is on late-night TV. Again I haven't missed anything by missing her.

  • It's interesting to note how bitter and hate-filled the Left is.

    The question is "why?"

After all, they are quite fond of pointing out, "They won."

Can't they find anything better to do than attack people who are no longer in power?

  • Let 'em keep talking. Americans will only take so much of the meanness. Liberals like to think that since they are better people, they can get away with it. Actually, for several years with Bush as President, they did.

The tipping point will come when Obama's HUGE tax on the middle class arrives next year in the form of inflation. No Democrat can joke his way out of that or blame someone else.

Conservatives should be optimistic, though. For a top ten list of things to be optimistic about, you can hit:
