Al Franken's Former Talk Radio Colleagues Vocalize Disapproval
FRANKEN-LY UNHAPPY
Schultz Tirade Against New Senator Provides Reality Check
*** FRESH UPDATE HERE: SCHULTZ TAKES CALLER HEAT FOR SLAMMING FRANKEN ***
Likely knowing full well that Al Franken has yet to prove his worth as a US Senator, the alleged funnyman's mainstream media pals are working overtime to remake his dodgy image.
Suddenly, Stuart Smalley is revealing his "solemn" side, studying the issues and making a real effort to work with others. Heck, he's even a great roommate!
Peel away that thin layer of overt partisan spin, however, and it becomes clear that unease related to Franken's legendary personal baggage remains as strong as ever. Worse, his recent words and actions have generated new anger, this time from the left.
Leading the charge on that front is MSNBC / syndicated radio libtalker Ed Schultz, who has been outspoken this week in airing grievances against a politician whose candidacy he strongly supported. Schultz believes Franken has already sold out his beliefs in exchange for Beltway-style good 'ol boys acceptance.
From Tuesday's radio program, here's the exclusive audio and transcript:
In addition, newly-discovered audio of a January edition of the Randi Rhodes Show reveals why she doesn't think Franken will make an "honest" senator:
Why is it that so many who've worked closely with Al Franken in the past have since become his most outspoken critics?

Schultz believes Franken has already sold out his beliefs in exchange for Beltway-style good 'ol boys acceptance.
From Tuesday's radio program, here's the exclusive audio and transcript:
SCHULTZ (03:51): Franken, I don't care if it's his first day in the Senate, I don't like what I'm hearing! How do you stand in front of crowds and listen to what people want for several years and then go to Washington and say, I'm proud to be number two from Minnesota! That's my vote, buddy! I did everything I could to help you defeat Norm Coleman!
I don't want you to go say that you're the number two senator from Minnesota. I don't want the bar lowered to the point where, well, we're really not sure if we can get this done or not. Where's all that tough talk in these books you sold about what a big fatass Limbaugh is! Why don't you go call the Republicans a bunch of fatasses and we're going to kick your ass and IT'S TIME NOW TO GET IT DONE! -
SCHULTZ (05:57): The irony of this is unbelievable! For of all people, to be number 60, a guy who has been torn apart by the righties! Beaten up by O'Reilly! Trashed by Hannity! Ripped apart by Limbaugh! Made fun of (makes mocking voice), Air America this, Air America that, dut da dut da dut, and what does Al do? (with heavy sarcasm) He's ready to reach across the aisle (sigh)...
In addition, newly-discovered audio of a January edition of the Randi Rhodes Show reveals why she doesn't think Franken will make an "honest" senator:
RHODES - 07 JANUARY 2009 - (8:12): Minnesota? Who the hell knows what’s going on there. First, it’s really kind of creepy. I gotta tell you you. Here’s your choices in Minnesota, worse or worst. Pick one.
You think I care, you’ve got worse and worst. That’s what you’ve got to choose from there. At one point for a really long time worse is 200 votes ahead. Then worst get 200 votes ahead.
Now you know they go we counted some much we get anymore we get like I can’t count anymore, certify something. Oh well we will certify, eeny meeny miney Franken. You should certify Tom Davis, he was the funny one. Seriously. You know I. So they certify Franken, I’m like holy crap, I can’t believe that. I cannot believe it.
RHODES (34:52): The reasons that I have for thinking he (Franken) will make a terrible Senator are really valid. I’ve kept them to myself. I’ve not put them on the air. I let the man run without the burden of what I know, which is all documentable and researchable and you can find it on the Internet. Never said a word. Left it to the voters in Minnesota to find out. Left it to Norm Coleman to expose it if he did some background operational research he could have found a lot of stuff. Didn’t bother to do it.
It’s Norm Coleman’s fault. I tell you that I think Norm Coleman is a horrible Senator. I think he’s a horn dog. I think he’s a womanizer. I think he’s a liar and I think he’s a terrible senator.
On the other hand, I’ve got plenty of reasons to believe that Al Franken is not going to be the type of honest senator, the kind of transparent operator that were were voting for. The kind of transparency and accountability that we voted for, he doesn’t fit that mold. I know some stuff. I choose not to put it on the air.
Why is it that so many who've worked closely with Al Franken in the past have since become his most outspoken critics?

MIA Randi Rhodes Slams Al Franken

By StewartIII, at 10 July, 2009 10:13
Franken may not be the far left Hollywood radical many thought he was. Is it possible that winning the race by only 300 votes may make him realize it would be smart to represent the entire state of Minnesota rather than just those on the far left? This would be refreshing and certainly would help him should he decide to run again.
By Anonymous, at 10 July, 2009 12:20
Ms. Rhodes, if you know the truth about a candidate that will have a potentially big impact on not just the Minnesota environment, but also the national situation, why would you withhold that information? What kind of person keeps information that could have an impact on an election secret just because they are selfishly interested in having a "democrat" win the election?
I expect dishonesty from Franken, but it surprises me that you are so shallow as to act this way.
By PickMark, at 10 July, 2009 12:24
You're a freaking idiot! STFU and leave Franken alone!
By Unknown, at 10 July, 2009 12:28
The Lying Lib Media is really working overtime spinning their buddy Al Franken to us. There is zero question that he is one of the lowest lyingest Angry America-hating Radical Liberals in America. He will be a rubber stamp for Obama’s Radical Leftist agenda. Period. But a few idiots thought he would make a good lawmaker…
By Randal, at 10 July, 2009 12:31
How long will Al be a Senator before the people of Minn impeach him? I give them 6 months before that move is on. Before he moved to Minn, he only knew the state because of Pro Football Vikings. Outside that, ask him anything about the state and he will look at you with the Deer in cars headlights look. Minn will be ashame he is their Senator..
By Anonymous, at 10 July, 2009 12:32
Thanks Minnesota - Jesse Ventura, and now Al Franken. That's who you choose to represent you. Morons.
By Anonymous, at 10 July, 2009 12:38
I wouldn't worry libbies. He's on his Honeymoon right now. The foul mouthed, egotistical jerk will rear his head in due time showing you exactly who you voted for.
By Anonymous, at 10 July, 2009 12:40
This is non-news dribble. Shame.
By Anonymous, at 10 July, 2009 12:47
Al Franken wouldn't reach across the aisle to grab a roll of toilet paper if he was stranded on the hopper with the trots.
I tried watching Schultz on the tube. It was too painful. Think Hannity or Hillary with a megaphone. Fingernails on a blackboard!
By Anonymous, at 10 July, 2009 12:48
First Jesse Ventura, now Al Franken. Kinda makes you wonder about the folks in Minnesota and what makes them 'tick', doesn't it? To whom will the next Senate seat go, Prince?
By Mark Stracka, at 10 July, 2009 12:50
Ed Schultz is nothing but attack any thing to the right of Carl Marx. Who the hell is he? Calling Rush fat? Has he looked in the mirror lately? He panders the the left loonies to try and get an audience for his faded dead shows. A sick, pathetic man with no redeeming value at all.
By Anonymous, at 10 July, 2009 13:06
great for minn....by sending frankin to the senate for the rest of the country too have to put up with.... now you guys join calif, and mass. as the three states where the people have been deemed too stupid to vote..... really..... frankin.... this is all you got to send....i think yall have been in one too many snow storms....
By Anonymous, at 10 July, 2009 13:09
Oh, you know nothing about Al Franken. You just want a national voice and some more listeners. Al Franken is a complete bumbling idiot and got in the Senate through fraud, pure and simple. We need to question this election as he won via the state Supreme Court. When Bush won in 2000 because the Supreme Court all we heard for eight years was the drumbeat that the Repubs rigged the election. Although his was legit -- no ballots found in car trunks like for Franken. He's a joke, a pure joke.
By Anonymous, at 10 July, 2009 13:12
Who is tuning in to these two anyway? If Brian hadn't posted this, the only people that would have known are the 5 people who listen to the mental defectives. The left knows their days are numbered and they will do their best to ram every leftist program down America's throat before they know what hit them...problem is the on the fence types are already on to them and the games from these statists will end quicker than you can say Stuart Smalley.
By Claude, at 10 July, 2009 13:17
You guys are still with the Bush won because of the Supreme Court nonsense huh? Why don't you libs talk about how Gore DIDN'T EVEN CARRY HIS OWN STATE!!! IF he won TN, he'd have been the President. Pity the smartest guy in the world got beat by someone as stupid as Bush, right? What knuckleheads you guys on the left are.
By Frabes, at 10 July, 2009 13:19
Do we really think that some blow and hookers are going to be a huge scandle when they occurred ages ago? We now have congressmen getting blown in public bathrooms, governors banging illegal aliens WHILE they are abroad and WHILE they are married...Just because Randi heard some rumors about some partying doesn't mean she can draw a line between truth and fiction. Quite the opposite, Franken isn't even mentioned in the Martin Sheen scandal:

Al Franken has Common Sense. I believe that is what we need and have needed for the last eight years.
By Anonymous, at 10 July, 2009 13:26
Al Franken was a mediocre comic, radio personality, and now has his chance to prove how substandard a Senator hs can be.
By Unknown, at 10 July, 2009 13:28
I think that the entire election was fraudulent and hope he is really not Jewish. We have enough anti-semitism from the left and do not need more of it. The counting of the ballots differently in different countys show the difference when a radical liberal is falsely elected it is okay buth loons are still whining about pres. GW Bush's first election. Now the socialists or shall we call them communists have their kind of Pres.and if Franken goes along with them..all of Minn. will be sure not to elect him next time. D. Wachsstock
By Unknown, at 10 July, 2009 13:29
the mainstream media just needs stuff to talk about. Franken will be the BIGGEST LIBERAL then we even saw with Obama.....they are just wanting their shows in the news. He's a mess ....
By Anonymous, at 10 July, 2009 13:34
He looks a lot like number two also. Someone please flush!!!
By Anonymous, at 10 July, 2009 13:38
Franken does not represent Minnesota-we didn't vote for him. He was bank rolled by out of state donors. He is really the third senator from California. Just check the public records of who gave him money. His sugar daddy put up the money for the lawyers to fight Norm. By the way, his sugar daddy does not like Norm. Push your states to limit funds from out of state for state elections-or you too will end up like Minnesota.
By Anonymous, at 10 July, 2009 13:46
Franken is up against a Senate tradition, politeness is required, or you will be shown the door. This is not England's house of commons (read rabble), it is the house of Lords (read we are the elite, the chosen). His Air America rants are not allowed by a vote of 99 to 1, it might wake the senior senator from West Virginia...
By Production Thermal Analysis, at 10 July, 2009 13:52
This is the difference between conservatives like myself and the crazy looney-tune liberals running the show these days.
And I quote... "Why don't you go call the Republicans a bunch of fatasses and we're going to kick your ass and IT'S TIME NOW TO GET IT DONE!"
See, as a conservative, I think liberals are wrong and misguided, you libs however seem to think we are evil and sinister. As a conservative, I want to see the liberal socialist agenda fail, however I have no desire to resort to name calling or threats of violence.
By Anonymous, at 10 July, 2009 13:57
Franken is a boorish twit. His political career will just shape up to be his latest skit. Whether playing a meek writer-type or savvy political wit, I fear his legislative offering will be a heaping pile of #&%@
By Anonymous, at 10 July, 2009 14:13
Then there's Franken's plagiarism and his history of not telling the truth: FRANKENLIES.COM: The truth about the lies of Al Franken.
^
By Anonymous, at 10 July, 2009 14:13
Al Franken: A US Senator. But, by comparison, he's less funny than any of his colleagues on the Hill. Now they are a riot! What a bunch of jokers! And Minnesota should change their status from "state" to "asylum."
By Anonymous, at 10 July, 2009 14:16
Hey Randi, after seeing the latest picture on Drudge, it sure looks like Obama is just as much of a "Horn Dog" as Coleman, only he like 16 yr. old white girls.
Do we have another Clinton on our hands?
By Anonymous, at 10 July, 2009 14:25
I thought this was a wonderful and meaningful article and I have no criticisms. Bravo!
By Anonymous, at 10 July, 2009 14:43
First of all let's make it clear. Carpet bagger Al does NOT represent Minnesota. He accupies the Senate seat assigned to Mn. He is the 3rd Senator representing California. The Ca lefties convinced him to move to MN with the promise of funding his campaign because they viewed Colman as the most able to be defeated. As an election poll judge I saw fraud ballots cast for Al but was unable to protest them. To put it nice he is just a sh..bird.
By Anonymous, at 10 July, 2009 14:48
F--k Frankin, I'm sorry this sorry ass punk with the help of Obamas union thugs and ACORN stole the eleection from MN! When a person voted for Obama but not Frankin was counted as a vote for Frankin! HM that means all democraps liked this moron? NO !Revolutionn in 2010 Impeach Obama now and vote every commy loving trash out congress! Impeach Frankin because he the worst unqualied turd to ever serve in congress, and soon he will step on his dick and say something so offensive that Congress will have to remove this piece obama trash clone!
By Anonymous, at 10 July, 2009 14:49
The false election of this idiot Al Franken shows how bad things have gotten in this country. The Commiecrats claim Palin is a moron? Look at this idiot. Palin is smart , but compared to Franken she is a genius. Our election process has been compromised and this was a token slap in the face of the American public.
By Anonymous, at 10 July, 2009 14:50
And how is Obama doing with that whole promised "transparency" thing? Biden's having closed door meetings that are "not really closed," and Obama refuses to provide visitor lists or open press conferences. Sell outs, one and all. Of course, I could also care less with Schultz and Rhodes have to say, they are just liberal versions of Limbaugh--know little blowhards.
By Anonymous, at 10 July, 2009 14:55
Al Franken is an arrogant ass. But, unfortunately, he's a Democrat and he is better than a Republican, although Coleman was not the worst Republican in the world.
By Anonymous, at 10 July, 2009 14:56
This is why I have stopped listening to both Schultz and Rhodes. I liked Franken on Air America and I REALLY am going to love him as a US Senator. As for progressive radio, Ron Reagan AND Stephanie Miller are the only ones left worth listening to. Time for a shakeup there, I'd say!
By Franken Fan, at 10 July, 2009 15:11
Time to get these crazy people out of Washington. 2010 and the midterms are critical. Take a look at the barackcontdownclock website and get focused on 2010
By barackcountdownclock, at 10 July, 2009 15:13
MS Randi,
you are either stupid or naive if you believe that Al Frankenstein is going to reach across the aisle. HE IS JOKING
By Anonymous, at 10 July, 2009 15:31
Randi Rhodes is a coward to say that she has dirt without actually saying what she is talking about. It's a cheap tactic. If you have some gossip you want to air about him, provide it. Otherwise shut your mouth
By steve, at 10 July, 2009 15:32
Won't even waste the keystrokes to explain how Franken is an inane buffoon, but really enjoyed the irony of Schultz calling Limbaugh a "fatass...."
By Anonymous, at 10 July, 2009 15:45
I am a real estate agent in New York City and am familiar with Franken's coop on Riverside Drive. The people in the building, neighbors and staff, can't stand this guy. Treats the staff with contempt. Typical liberal. Always for the little guy as long as they know their place. Nice job Minnesota.
By Anonymous, at 10 July, 2009 15:47
Al Franken???? The guy wasn't even a good comedian, how can he be a senator? Ms. Rhodes clearly demonstrates her liberal ethics by not disclosing undesirable information about Franken. She has no credibility or right to complain about Mr. Worse when she could have been honest and forthcoming with legitamate information. Lay in the bed you made Ms. Rhodes. As for Kelly, you clearly show your typical liberal intelligence with your statement, "You're a freaking idiot! STFU and leave Franken alone!" Maybe you could get a life & a job this year and get the living hell taxed out of you like the rest of us.
By Joel, at 10 July, 2009 15:58
312 is not a mandate. God help him if he rubber stamps everything Reid wants. If he does then he will prove that he is nothing, not even a clown. I hope and pray (yes pray) that he will be his own man and READ bills before voting.
By JHardyM, at 10 July, 2009 16:19
Randi Rhodes has nothing on Al Franken. It all comes down to jealousy. She was jealous of his large New York City apartment. Jealous of his salary. Pissed off at him because he would never mentioned her name when he appeared on Letterman. Rhodes is a fraud with a desire to be rich & famous. Remember Rhodes is the 50 year old loon who fell down drunk outside a New York City pub, lied & told her boss she was beaten up & mugged-she loved the publicity she received from that Bullshit story she created.
Rhodes has a pattern of lying.
google-"My life as co host with shock jock Perry Stone"
She used to lie & tell her listeners she served 6 years in the Air Force. She went AWOL after 2 years. She lied o her resume-said she was voted most outstanding woman in the Air Force (No such award exist).
She is a hypocrite & a phony.
By Anonymous, at 10 July, 2009 16:25
It's merely a matter of time before Franken opens mouth and inserts foot.
By Carl, at 10 July, 2009 16:29
this is franken's "BRUNO", in which his next gig/gag is to pretend to be a senator in a free country. like bruno, he will make his fellow senators embarrassed at his antics on the floor, while conducting hearings, while conducting international travels (aka fact finding missions), etc. the 'sotans will find just how embarrassed they can be as the ones who elected him to office by fraud or otherwise. and the rest of the world will look at him about the same way gays look at bruno. i can't wait to see "al franken, u.s. senator" (the movie) and see how he is complicit in destroying this country along with 99 other commode floats in congress today.
By Anonymous, at 10 July, 2009 16:36
What is wrong with Minn.? I would be ashamed of this guy. When it was Franken and David on SNL he wasn't funny. He thinks he is cute and that is the worst kind of individual.
He is just another limousine liberal.
By Unknown, at 10 July, 2009 16:50
Randi Rhodes is a lunatic: "Hillary is a f***ing whore." Not a very credible source. Fatass Ed Schultz is a hired gun: Dems and Soros funded talking head moron---"McCain is a warmonger." I think Franken is one of the most morally corrupt individuals to ever enter the Senate, and that's saying something, but Rhodes and Schultz are certainly in no position to judge or criticize. Individually them might be twice as bad a Franken ever was.

By erik99, at 10 July, 2009 17:35
When Kelly writes "You're a freaking idiot! STFU and leave Franken alone!", somehow I hear the voice of that "Leave Brittany Alone!" guy.
By Mike Van Pelt, at 10 July, 2009 18:00
Wow - this must be the stupid people's message board, regardless of political leanings. A couple of fact checks:
The people of Minnesota cannot "impeach" or even recall a senator.
Minor point, but it was Franken and DAVIS, not David.
Please stop calling the "Liberal Agenda" Socialist. If you do so, you prove that you have no idea what the current administration is doing, and you also prove that you have no idea what Socialism is.
Oh right, folks on the left in this country are the only ones that have ever called people names, and attacked them personally.
If you're going to comment on a blog - use facts.

Senator(?) Smalley is without a doubt the dumbest, most disgusting person to ever fill a seat in congress. Minnesota and the entire nation would be better off if they had filled that seat with a baboon. Wellll, he does look like a baboon.
By Unknown, at 10 July, 2009 18:46
Smalley didn't win the election by 300 votes or even 1 vote. The election was stolen by Smalley and his liberal supporters and approved by the liberal left wing judiciary.
By Unknown, at 10 July, 2009 18:51
Sorry, Al, but too many of us were paying attention for the last 20+ years than to buy this makeover. There are people insisting that Joe Biden isn't a plagiarist, too. Neither attempt will work.
I feel sorry for Minnesotans with a brain, but I have to say: there is zero chance of me ever moving there. The half (HALF!) of you that wants this idiot as your senator are more than enough for me. And *I* live in California!
By pudenda shenanigans, at 10 July, 2009 18:51
John the Sheeple still believes Hussein Obama is the Messiah and that Al Franken is Saint Peter. The people who posted on this blog know Socialism when they see it, only it is something far worse; Facism, Communism and Socialism all wrapped into one huge disgusting package.
By Unknown, at 10 July, 2009 19:02
Franken...you've got to be kidding. This is what happens when the voters are products of parents who use television as a substitute for parenting, a system of liberal designed to make them stupid, Ward Churchill college degrees, sex as a drug, drugs as drugs, immorality, amorality, and an acceptance of everything from abortion to marriage between a chimpanzee and a woman.
The good old USA...I think these guys www.nygennews.com hit it right on th head, vote them all out of office, every last one, and then start from scratch.
By PJ Fusco, at 10 July, 2009 19:02

People like you disgust me.

Schultz was never a colleague or friend of Franken. They were competitors on different networks, going up against each other in the same timeslot. Schultz was constantly ticked off about people thinking he was on Air America and had frequent rude things to say about that network. Schultz is a recent convert to being on the left-wing and Franken is a lifelong liberal. Other than both being radio hosts on the left (and both now living in the same state) they have little in common.
By Anonymous, at 10 July, 2009 19:35
If I lived in Minnesota, I would move. Are you people serious there? Who votes for Al Franken? What complete moron goes into a booth with any common sense and pulls the lever for Franken? You people should be completely imbarrassed. Shamefull.
By Anonymous, at 10 July, 2009 20:01
The US senate is an organization. The reality of gaining membership in that organization is not the same as maintaining membership in that organization. I don't think Franken is selling out so much as adjusting the reality of what he must do to represent Minnesota.
Left wing radio-right wing radio are one in the same. Neither is happy unless they are trashing someone.
The left should give Franken some credit. He accomplished what Limbaugh, Hannity, OReilly, et.al., never will do;
Get elected to the US Senate!!
By Anonymous, at 10 July, 2009 20:14
I agree with everyone calling Minnesotans dumb. I have lived in MN nearly my whole life and was shocked and amazed with both Jesse Ventura (I was 16 and still realized what a mistake it was) and now Al Franken. I am horribly embarrassed by this and saddened that we are compared w/ California and Massachusetts. All I can say is, try living here...left wing radicals (not just dems--but radicals) around every corner. I dream of the day the economy turns around so I can sell my house and move.
By Katie from Minneapolis, at 10 July, 2009 20:31

By Anonymous, at 10 July, 2009 20:34
Per the Minnesota State consitution we can recall a senator for malfeasance or nonfeasance. Not all states have this written into their constitutions. So, Al we will be watching and documentaing your every move.
By Anonymous, at 10 July, 2009 21:49
you realize this is a moronic attempt to make Franken seem like he is more middle of the road by the leftist idiots. Do not be stupid people
By Unknown, at 10 July, 2009 21:54
Al Franken??? Are all of you crazy in MN? This is a man who is full of Hate. Even on SNL, he was not funny. His Radio Show was a gigantic flop.
Franken is a nut job, pure and simple. He is such a narcistist, you can't even detect his true personality. B Bailey said: "There's a Sucker Born Every Minute". All the Suckers supported this nut job.
Shocked at MN voters

Another anonymous said,
"The left should give Franken some credit. He accomplished what Limbaugh, Hannity, OReilly, et.al., never will do;
Get elected to the US Senate!!"
THAT'S CONSINDERED AN ACCOMPLISMENT?!?
ROTFL!
Let's reverse this...
Give Limbaugh, Hannity and O'Reilly credit for doing something Franken never was able to do...
CREATE AND MAINTAIN A SUCCESSFUL TALK SHOW WITH HIGH RATINGS!
Frankly (pun intended), a successful talk show is a better job than Congresscritter. Anyone can get elected, only a select few can earn the success Limbaugh, Hannity and O'Reilly enjoy.
By Carl, at 10 July, 2009 22:04
Ed Schultz is a joke. MSLSD is only still on the air because they are pandering for billions in government contracts from the Obama adminstration. Sooner or later they will be a done deal. Bill Gates ought to do himself a favor and get rid of the MS part of MSNBC. As much money as he has made he has lost from being apart of the looney left. I kind of feel bad for him, it did not start off as a bigoted left wing motuhpiece, know it is just out of control. Rachel Maddow? I would rather spend a weekend in the National Musuem of Art with my girlfriend than listen to her for five minutes.

I'd hate to be in showbiz then in politics. There's not much love there in the long run. Politics itself seems hard enough even if you were trying your best.
But then again, it's him.. Al Franken.

I suspect the people of the great state of MN. could care less who represents them. Perhaps they realize government is nothing more than thieves and selfish individuals, that care for themselves ahead of the constituent. So, why not be outrageous and elect "garbage"? It's funny :-)

He owes a debt of gratitude to a lot of dead voters (some 2000 of them?) who took the time to return to Minnesota to cast ballots.
He better stop acting like such an ingrate or maybe he will get a little bump in the night from one of his zombie constituents.
By crosspatch, at 10 July, 2009 23:59
Its the French Revolution in the dem party. Off with his head. Off with everyones head !
If you are a dem you either have a low IQ or are pathological....so I would expect nothing other than what is happening.
By Unknown, at 11 July, 2009 00:25
I doubt very much that Al Franken can be worse then Kennedy, Kerry, and Barny(what is in the Massachusetts water?)or Leahy and Sanders and Welch...or WAXMAN! Be afraid...very afraid.
By J&C, at 11 July, 2009 00:38
Pilots and truck drivers must submit to a drug test before being hired. If you pass and are hired, you are subject to random drug screening tests at any time. I've been chosen randomly TWICE this year. Why should drug addicts be allowed to make the laws for the rest of America? Franken is not drug free, I would bet my entire savings and future earnings on that fact. You deserve Smalley Minnesota, enjoy.
By Web Loafer, at 11 July, 2009 00:50
Total non-story. Based on comments from 1, count'em, 1 talk host. Randi Rhodes doesn't count - this is old tape from 6 months ago. Rhodes is a silly has-been anyway. Franken's been in the Senate, what 2 days? Oh, sorry - 3 days. He has already sponsored a pro-labor bill. He is doing what all successful senators do. He's putting his head down and getting to work. Good for him. Good for Minnesota.
By Unknown, at 11 July, 2009 02:06
that shows the integrity of the left. when a person on the right are known liars and womanizers, the rest of the right don't let other people "find out for themselves" a person with integrity would have call them out. instead, schulz and rhodes are just enablers.
By Unknown, at 11 July, 2009 02:56
First, Let me say I think Franken is a boob.
That said this is a typical liberal rant where they spew vitriol and hate and have absolutely no substance to back it up. They don't say why they hate Franken they just do.
Why should a liberal ever consider any facts for their beliefs. The guy has done nothing yet except win an election and they're already calling him out?
By Anonymous, at 11 July, 2009 06:36
Well it didn't take long for both side to start yelling. He has only been in office for three day's. I didn't vote for Senator Al Franken I at lease will give him a break. Time will tell what type of Senator he will be. I have listen to Ed Schultz before and there nothing that anyone does that is right. He is just as bad as Hannity. It is what it is. If you put good candidates in to run this what not have happen.
By Anonymous, at 11 July, 2009 08:03
state bird of MN = Loon. Lesson's were not learned from Ventura. Shame.
By Unknown, at 11 July, 2009 08:12
Wait a sec...they can have fair elections in Iraq and not in the US? Where is Jimmy Carter and his oversight committee when it comes to elections in the US of A?? We have become a laughingstock to the cultures, civilized countries of the world (i.e. Switzerland). Waint until Franken, et al vote to make the US dollar obsolete (Medvedev wants a world currency...Al will go for it because he's that ignorant!)...we're so screwed!!!
By Unknown, at 11 July, 2009 09:15
I agree with the person who said "just give him time." In time, the real Stu Smalley will emerge, foul mouthed, angry, indignant and incompetent as ever. Even the DFLers in St Paul will demand his political head.
By Dave T, at 11 July, 2009 10:13
Apparently Brian Maloney is full of baloney. Ed Schultz never worked with Al Franken. Randi Rhodes has always been a little bitter over the way Al Franken got all the hype from the Air America owners but rightfully so. She and Mike Malloy were the only true radio professionals they had when the network was first getting started yet they were both tossed aside.
By Anonymous, at 11 July, 2009 10:14
Some of us remember Franken's days on Saturday Night Live, many years ago, when SNL was literally a drug den, floating in a smoky haze of chemical incapacitation and confusion. It probably still is, actually. But Franken's appearances on camera instead of in the writers' sub-den, were always particularly baffling. I was young too and was more inclined then to put up with the defiant and dadaesque humor of that period, but now in retrospect it looks really dumb and inexcusably drugged-out. I'm sure Franken thinks so too now, and maybe he is even beginning to realize that life, and caring for new life, and responsibility, and stability are reasonably serious things, and also that the opposition political party is not necessarily absolute and total evil. He would not be the first, when stepping into office, to begin to feel and see that a large responsibility is sitting to some extent on one's own shoulders, and one owes it to the nation to try to do what is right. May he always see both sides of the issues, and forget about the juvenile concept that all right and all good resides exclusively in one's own political philosophy
By Anonymous, at 11 July, 2009 10:28
Minnasota, you had a football team that rubbed your name into the mud. Then came Jesse Ventura, now Frankin. He is about as low life as you can get. I would be ashamed to tell anyone that I lived in Minnasota. Could you please try and do better in the futher??
By Anonymous, at 11 July, 2009 11:20
Minnesota is an Indian word which in English means: Land of Morons
By Anonymous, at 11 July, 2009 11:26
This is hilarious in Ed Schultz and Randi Rhodes too should go steal elections in their own Marxist enclaves and join Al Franken.
These liberals all want Hitler scorched earth in their dictate and rule, instead of govern which America is supposed to be about.
Al Franken, wants to be loved by everyone as his ego is getting in the way.
I would remind readers that one of Al Franken's best friends in Washington, DC and who donate to Al is none other than World Net Daily's G. Gordon Liddy.
No Al Franken is not anything but a slimy liberal, but for those like Schultz and Rhodes who thought Franken was marching in goose step to the socialist Vaterland, they are going to find out that Norm Coleman was their best representation as he actually bucked Bush on issues.
But as Norm Coleman said, "What can you do when there are more votes counted than Minnesota voters?"
Maybe Alec Baldwin will be in Congress next to please the liberals as he votes for more Obama war, more Pakistan assassination, more rewarding the rich in stimulus kickbacks as Americans loose jobs, become more dependent on foreign oil and now we get to drive Warren Buffett Barack Obama Chinese communist cars.
Ain't life grand under Obama Franken in they are doing things 100 times more than what they were accusing Bush 43 of doing.
By Lame Cherry, at 11 July, 2009 11:56
Ventura, now Franken.
California chose a terminator for Gov??? Can you idiots electing so called celebs please seceed from the Union? You don't deserve to be part of the USA.
By Anonymous, at 11 July, 2009 12:39
Republicans can now point out that there now is a genuine wacko sitting in congress who had said (on Air America) that "...the attack on 911 was planned by Bush and Cheney...").

It's been a long time since I've read such a strikingly ignorant blog post.
The premise that Franken's colleagues are rising up against him isn't supported in the remotest sense.
First of all, you mention only two. Of those two, one is a crackpot who keeps disappearing from her show and won't even reveal the nature of her mysterious complaint.
The other actually admires Franken and simply wants him to be more outspoken. That isn't exactly disapproval.
And that's the basis in full of your assertion that "so many" of Franken's former pals have become outspoken critics?
This is just embarrassingly dumb.
By Anonymous, at 11 July, 2009 13:09
Just remember Ronald Reagan was a bad actor...oh wait he was a bad President too. Disregard!
By Unknown, at 11 July, 2009 13:42
I have to say as a Moderate Democrat from Minnesota, we are the laughing stock of the U.S. now. First we elected that idiot Ventura who didn't know WHAT the hell he was doing, and now we elected a clown. I am a huge supporter of American Labor, but this guy's environmental policy is going to put the UAW out of existence and soon to follow will be the UMWA! Why the hell isn't my party sticking with American Labor? It's the only reason left that I'm a Democrat! If this continues, I'm going to have to go Independent.
By Tim Printer, at 11 July, 2009 14:14

When instructing student driver's in Arizona the students were always told if you see a car from Minnesota LOOK OUT change lanes blow you horn the drive doen't know what it is doing where it's going and is most likely asleep thank you for proving me right with your election of A-F------please don't come to AZ!

And to those of you who are lost somewhere on the other side, I pity you.

While there are very few people I would wish death on, there is just no question that, if Al Franken had a massive heart attack and died, the world would be a better place.
And Minnesota should be expelled from the Union and given to Canada.
By Anonymous, at 11 July, 2009 19:10
Randi Rhodes is the Joe McCarthy of the Left. She is waving a piece of paper on the radio with incriminating evidence against Al Franken but she will not tell us what it is. So why bother to mention it?
By Anonymous, at 11 July, 2009 19:24
Losers, all of em. Franken... a hack comedian, a hack talkshow host and now a hack senator. Ed Schultz, a guy that makes a living off of calling Cheney "Shooter" but who SHOT HIS OWN DOG TO DEATH WHILE HUNTING! Randi Rhodes, a woman that passed out drunk and then intimated that she could have been attacked by a rightwinger because well, she just had no idea what happened. She didn't bother to mention that she was substituting alcohol for FOOD.
Morons, imbeciles and generally miserable people. I used to listen to Randi and Ed but they are two peas in a pod... ANGRY. I just couldn't take it any more. Am I shocked that they'd devour one of their own, a colleague even... NOPE.
By Anonymous, at 11 July, 2009 19:33
Kudos to Senator Franken for doing his job and not pushing an agenda. Never been a huge fan, but perhaps MN made the right choice?
Do what is right for your state and you country Senator, that is all anyone can ask. LT Meyers
By Em's Dad, at 11 July, 2009 19:35
Yeah, Minnesotans are definitely morons. I looked the other way when they elected Ventura, but now they vote Franken in....all that cold weather up there must freeze their brains. They are surely backward idiots!

By Nick G, at 11 July, 2009 21:09
Continue to marginalize the rabid 25% who agree with your ridiculous and outdated beliefs. All you're doing is assisting in bringing down the percentage of people who are white, poorly educated, and asleep enough to identify themselves as Republicans!
