MORE 'EXECUTION' TALK

Second KIRO Host Calls For Presidential Death Penalty

*** New updates at SaveWRKO ***

When it comes to calling for Bush Administration "executions", what's going on at Seattle's KIRO- AM? This onetime ratings leader, where your Radio Equalizer once worked as a host, is fast becoming a hotbed of extremism.

(Thanks to Orbusmax for the alert)

Call it talk radio for the truly unhinged.

Previously, we believed the loose cannon issue was mostly confined to one host, Mike Webb, who was fired in 2005 after his arrest on insurance fraud charges. In 2004, Webb called for President Bush's execution on "war crimes" charges during his evening program.

At the time, we noted his rhetoric was every bit as reckless as that of Air America's Randi Rhodes, who faced a great deal of fallout, including advertiser boycotts, when a recorded skit she aired suggested Bush be taken out in a mob hit.

With this level of fringe kookdom, lowever, couldn't these Seattle hosts be considered too extreme, even for Air America?

Now, a second KIRO host has kicked up the rhetoric several notches, going even further by posting such thoughts on the Internet. In two examples found at HorsesAss.com, David Goldstein (known as "Goldy") has called for Bush Administration executions.

Note that when called to account for his statements in the first example, "Goldy" hides behind the fact that he didn't specifically mention Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld by name:

Saddam Hussein hanged
by Goldy, 12/29/2006, 8:41 PM

Hmm. One war criminal down.

In the most recent example, however, Goldy went all the way:

Whoops…

As Tikriti fell to the gallows, his head was taken off by the rope noose, and the body and the head fall to the floor while Bandar swings on the rope.

My only hope is that when Bush, Rumsfeld and Cheney are held accountable for their war crimes, that they be punished more humanely.

Yeah, Goldy, take it back! The President and Vice President deserve to receive the same high standard of justice they gave to Saddam Hussein (er, I mean that the Iraqi puppet government gave them, er I mean that the sovereign Iraqi justice system gave them)!

6. BlueEyedBuddhist says:

Hey, right wingers… the point is that Goldy doesn’t WANT Bush and Cheney to have their heads torn off; while he does hope that they’re punished, he hopes it’s in a more humane manner.

In other words, even though he thinks they’re war criminals just the scumbags getting hung in Iraq, he thinks they deserve better treatment than we’re showing the scumbags.

The point is that we’re supposed to be the Good Guys, not the people ripping other people’s heads off. A distinction that is no doubt lost on you wingnuts.

It was Seattle's Orbusmax news site which first brought attention to Goldy's outbursts. These comments are currently featured there:

710 KIRO TALK SHOW HOST DISPLAYS BUSH- DERANGEMENT- SYNDROME ONCE AGAIN: "My only hope is that when Bush, Rumsfeld and Cheney are held accountable for their war crimes, that they be punished more humanely..."

PREVIOUS GOLDSTEIN B.D.S, WITH PICTURE OF RUMSFELD AND SADDAM: "Hmm. One war criminal down..."

CAUGHT IN A FLIP-FLOP? (Goldy) "If you're reading something else into this post, well... that's your own problem... Of course, I was being intentionally provocative when I commented on Saddam Hussein’s hanging by posting a picture of Saddam shaking hands with Donald Rumsfeld, followed by the simple caption: 'Hmm. One war criminal down.' That so many readers chose to infer 'one to go...' is out of my control, though surely understandable given the historic context..."

Here's the big question: if lefty talk didn't pan out for Air America, why does KIRO believe going even further to the fringe extremes will fare any better?

  • Um... Brian... I'm a liberal. I'm opposed to the death penalty. So I can't see how you can call this "execution" talk.

    > Here's the big question: if lefty
    > talk didn't pan out for Air
    > America, why does KIRO believe
    > going even further to the fringe
    > extremes will fare any better?

Clearly, you've never listened to my show. There's nothing "fringe" about it. In fact, if anything, I'm too nice on the air.

But putting aside your false assumption that lefty talk didn't pan out (I don't equate AAR's business model with lefty talk) there's a huge difference between what I do, and what AAR does. I'm local. And when I'm not talking local issues, I tend to be talking national issues from a local angle.

It may stick in your craw that some liberal with no radio experience has a show in Seattle, and you do not, but my foot in the door has nothing to do with my politics... it's got everything to do with my ability to entertain and engage the audience.

This is showbiz baby. So thanks for the free publicity. (Though I gotta say, I'm a little disappointed with the amount of traffic your post has driven to my blog thus far.)

  • I wonder if KIRO and Goldy will be so giddy when the Secret Service and the FCC come calling.

By Blogger PCD, at 16 January, 2007 13:29

  • That is weak. Two mild comments on a blog that generates as much traffic as this site.

  • Wouldn't it me nice if liberals hated terrorists and genocidal dictators half as much as they hate Republicans?

  • Love how Goldy and a couple of you try to change the subject away from his rhetoric.

  • This "Goldy" guy is a real loser, Brian. Mr. So-called mild-mannered is in fact a sub-human.

A year or so ago, he laughed and giggled when Falwell had a major health problem and maybe he wouldn't live. Goldy took a lot of glee in that.

  • How can anyone understand Goldy when he always has the kiro PD's cock in his mouth?

  • > Love how Goldy and a couple of you

Okay Brian, what about my rhetoric? As an attempt to spark discussion in an open thread, I wrote that Bush should be treated humanely. And you spin that into a teaser that says "Second KIRO Host Calls For Presidential Death Penalty."

Both of us were being deliberately provocative, but at least I wasn't deliberately lying.

If you want to discuss this further, perhaps you should call in to my show, 7-10PM on Sunday night?

(Hey wait... wasn't that once your time slot on 710-KIRO? It might be fun for you to get back on the air in Seattle again... if only as a caller.)

  • So I take it then that Spocko and his Kossack acolytes will collect all of Goldy's lovely little sound bites and send them to the advertisers on KIRO, just as they have done at KSFO?

By Blogger PCD, at 17 January, 2007 10:09

  • Baloney - you're such a freaking loser. Goldy has your old spots on Kiro: BOTH Saturday and Sunday now. That's gotta hurt!

And Goldy talks about the issues NOT your hysterical right-wing tin-hat theories that you called "the story you're just not hearing". It gags me to think about it!

Prattle on Baloney. You're such a pathetic, sad sack!

By Blogger BWTechnical, at 18 January, 2007 03:37

  • I believe that if someone is frustrated enough as the president...or ANY president...enough to want to see them dead, nobody should try to make them feel guilty about it...it IS free speech.

There's a HUGE difference between wishing the man ill, and planning to carry it out yourself....this anger is what the human race has come to.

It may not be pretty, but at least it is out in the open...

I don't think reveling in public executions of other country's leaders helps the overall tone, either....

Seems that, for every despot, there is equivalent or worse just waiting in the wings.

Better that the anger be channeled as a catalyst for change.
