Apparently furious with the success of a newly-reunited conservative-GOP coalition against the reckless spending of hundreds of billions in taxpayer funds, a group of Obamists headed by MoveOn.org are planning an anti-Rush Limbaugh attack radio ad campaign.
Set to begin tomorrow on stations nationwide, the ads are designed to put pressure on GOP moderates in the US Senate who might be inclined to follow the lead of their House counterparts.
In yesterday's vote on the phony, pork-laden "stimulus" bill, Republicans (joined by a handful of Democrats) unanimously rejected the Obamist plan.

Under Fire From Conservatives, GOP Rethinks Rush Criticism
One day after their criticism of de facto Opposition Leader Rush Limbaugh was greeted angrily by conservatives, Republicans in Congress have dramatically changed their tune.
Apparently recognizing they'd misread the political tea leaves, Republicans now seem to be coming around to the view that sucking-up to Obama isn't going to sustain the party, particularly as a backlash builds against the reckless, pork-laden "stimulus" package pushed by the Obamists. The GOP is now openly denouncing the plan.
Responding to President Obama’s recommendation to Republican congressional leaders last week that they not follow Limbaugh’s lead, the conservative talkmeister said on his show that Obama is “obviously more frightened of me than he is Mitch McConnell. He's more frightened of me, than he is of, say, John Boehner, which doesn't say much about our party."
Rep. Phil Gingrey, R-Ga., did not take kindly to this assessment in an interview with Politico Tuesday.
“I think that our leadership, Mitch McConnell and John Boehner, are taking the right approach,” Gingrey said. “I mean, it’s easy if you’re Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh or even sometimes Newt Gingrich to stand back and throw bricks. You don’t have to try to do what’s best for your people and your party. You know you’re just on these talk shows and you’re living well and plus you stir up a bit of controversy and gin the base and that sort of that thing. But when it comes to true leadership, not that these people couldn’t be or wouldn’t be good leaders, they’re not in that position of John Boehner or Mitch McConnell."
On today's Limbaugh program, Gingrey said he was sorry for his "foot-in-mouth disease yesterday" and emphasized his recognition that Obama's phony "stimulus" plan is loaded with unrelated pork. His apology went considerably further than the mere "clarification" that was expected by observers.
Because of the high volume of phone calls and correspondence received by my office since the Politico article ran, I wanted to take a moment to speak directly to grassroots conservatives. Let me assure you, I am one of you. I believe I was sent to Washington to fight for and defend our traditional values of smaller government, lower taxes, a strong national defense, and the lives of the unborn. In my six years in Washington, I have led the charge on many of these issues. In fact, in 2008 The National Journal ranked me the #1 most conservative Member of the House of Representatives.
As long as I am in the Congress, I will continue to fight for and defend our sacred values. I have actively opposed every bailout, every rebate check, every so called “stimulus.” And on so many of these things, I see eye-to-eye with Rush Limbaugh. Regardless of what yesterday’s headline may have read, I never told Rush to back off. I regret and apologize for the fact that my comments have offended and upset my fellow conservatives—that was not my intent. I am also sorry to see that my comments in defense of our Republican Leadership read much harsher than they actually were intended, but I recognize it is my responsibility to clarify my own comments.
Now more than ever, we need to articulate a clear conservative message that distinguishes our values and our approach from those of liberal Democrats who are seeking to move our nation in the wrong direction. Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Newt Gingrich, and other conservative giants are the voices of the conservative movement’s conscience. Everyday, millions and millions of Americans—myself included—turn on their radios and televisions to listen to what they have to say, and we are inspired by their words and by their determination.
At the end of the day, every member of the conservative movement, from our political commentators and thinkers to our elected officials, share an important and common purpose in advancing the cause of liberty, reigning in a bloated federal government, and defending our traditional family values.
For some time, tensions between conservatives and Republicans have been running high, particularly as as grassroots activists have watched the party become co-opted by the Obamists on virtually every issue.
I’d agree that we need to articulate a clear conservative message — and that the GOP caucuses in the House and Senate have thus far failed to do so, and have failed at it for the last few years. Rather than take shots at Limbaugh, Hannity, and fellow Georgian Newt Gingrich, they should be listening to them. Because, despite Barack Obama’s fantasies, the Republicans in Congress stopped doing that after they won the majority in 1994, and they’re paying the price now.
They have a golden opportunity before them now to demonstrate that they’ve learned from their bingeing on government pork and reckless spending between 2001-6. The stimulus bill represents everything conservatives fight against. If the Republicans don’t stand up for efficiency, accountability, and responsible governance now, they won’t get another chance for years as this turkey burdens another generation with its irresponsible spending.
However sincere this turnabout may be, it's not clear whether it will be enough to prevent a widespread conservative uprising against the GOP. Clearly, what remains of the party now realizes it cannot afford to underestimate with the power of conservative talk radio, especially when the latter's goal is merely to hold the party to its supposed principles.

Clearly having learned nothing from past attempts at removing dissenting viewpoints from the airwaves, power-mad Democrats are trying once again to silence Rush Limbaugh.
To that end, the Obamists have cooked up this propaganda piece, which fails to explain Rush's actual view on Obama and America (he's opposed to the former, but in full support of the latter):

Aided by their friends in the mainstream media, the Obamist tag team seeks to bully the opposition into complete submission. With a substantial chunk of the GOP already caving in under pressure, Democrats know that only conservative talk radio stands between them and a Chavez-like political coup where all criticism is wiped off the map.
It won't stop merely with "sending Rush your comments", the Obamists have declared war on the opposition and will use any means necessary to demolish dissenting viewpoints. Will independent-thinking Americans fight back?
As Limbaugh himself explained during Tuesday's broadcast, it's Obama that wants Rush to fail as much as the opposite might be true:
CALLER: Well, Rush, I just want to say that I'm definitely a part of your 1% club. Article 1, Section 8 in the Ninth and Tenth Amendment basically say in plain terms Congress keep your hands off the private sector and the free market. There's nowhere in the Constitution where it says that they have the right for bailouts, to take control of the private sector. I applaud what you're doing, and count me in that 1%. If people want to buy a jet, let 'em buy a jet.
RUSH: Well, you know, there have been people raise questions about the constitutionality of the bailouts on the basis that you've mentioned, but somebody's gotta bring the case. Somebody's gotta bring it up. Nobody's going to bring the case that it's unconstitutional, on whatever grounds that you decide. Therefore, we're back to where we always are: the constant informing and educating of the American people.
And, by the way, we're talking about hope and change? I'm reeeally looking for some hope and change. And one of my big hopes is that at some point enough Americans finally wake up and say, "Wait a minute! We're fed up with the way you people are spending money here." We can hope. We just had a campaign on it. And I'm hoping, and I'm hoping for immediate change, and I'll tell you this: the president of the United States hopes I fail. Try that.
Thankfully for America, cocky Democrats have once again misread the political tea leaves and wildly underestimated the resolve of patriotic Americans to preserve their cherished way of life.

In case you missed it, President Obama has been locked in a war of words with the leader of all dittoheads, Rush Limbaugh.
Limbaugh has been taking whacks at Obama as long as Obama’s been on the scene. But the newly minted president took a whack back Friday, when he told Republican lawmakers they should stop listening to the bomb-tossing conservative who reaches millions of listeners a week.
“You can’t just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done,” Obama chided GOP leaders in negotiations about the economic stimulus package.
A delighted Limbaugh, thrilled to see the president climb into his mudwrestling pit, launched a return barrage yesterday.
Now media and political analysts say the new commander in chief made a whopper of a mistake.
“He’s the president of the United States and all Rush Limbaugh is is a radio talk show host,” said Michael Harrison, publisher of Talkers Magazine. “Once again, Rush Limbaugh raises the stature of our industry to the world stage.”
Professor Thomas Patterson of Harvard’s Kennedy School said Obama’s snark “elevates” Limbaugh as a figure. “It strikes me that the president of the United States singles you out, somehow that means you are a counter-figure on some level. That’s a mistake.”
Brian Maloney, author of the Radio Equalizer blog, called it a political blunder of “epic proportions,” noting the story was picked up worldwide.
“Obama has now basically said that ‘my key political opposition is Rush Limbaugh,’ ” said Maloney, who said Limbaugh’s ratings were probably five times higher than normal yesterday. “He must have been popping champagne corks over the weekend.”
There's no question Limbaugh has now become a worldwide figure, as opposed to previous mere domestic fame. From today's (UK) Telegraph:

The 58-year-old's daily three-hour radio show, which has been running for 20 years, is syndicated to 600 stations across the US and attracts an estimated 20 million listeners a week.
The Right-wing host has been hailed as a Beatles-esque phenomenon for pioneering talk radio and is seen by fans as a refreshing alternative to the mainstream media - or "liberal media", as Limbaugh dubs it - for his outspoken, sometimes satirical, partisan diatribes.
Critics, however, view his broadcasts as divisive and inflammatory political propaganda, even dangerous demagoguery.
Time magazine's Mark Halperin has labelled Limbaugh an "American iconic" figure. Meanwhile Arianna Huffington, a staunch supporter of President Barack Obama, dubbed Limbaugh and other conservative commentators "toxic curiosities".
Limbaugh appears to relish such notoriety. One of his many soubriquets listed on the official Rush Limbaugh website is "the Most Dangerous Man in America". Others include: "America's Anchorman; America's Truth Detector; the Doctor of Democracy; the All-Knowing, All-Sensing, All-Everything Maha Rushie; defender of motherhood, protector of fatherhood and an all-around good guy".
Limbaugh broadcasts from a studio in Florida he refers to as a "heavily fortified bunker" and features no guests on his shows, which are often monologues interspersed with listeners' calls or off-microphone comments from his long-time producer.
So how did we get to this point? When Clinton took office in 1993, a new wave of young Republican talent was waiting in the wings to work with Rush in changing America for the better. By the next year, they had taken control of Congress with a fresh agenda, while Limbaugh remained behind the microphone to provide support and encouragement when needed.
In a parliamentary system, the minority party sits across the aisle while its leader appoints shadow ministers who both monitor the corresponding cabinet secretary's actions and present alternative policy positions.
So if Rush Limbaugh is functioning as our opposition leader, why not have him follow the parliamentary example and appoint his own shadow cabinet?
He could assemble an all-star roster of conservative leaders with expertise in monetary policy, defense, communications, intelligence and other key roles. In addition to keeping El Rushbo apprised of what the Obamist team is up to, they could issue policy statements.
In the absence of effective GOP leadership, Rush has already assumed this role. For America's sake, shouldn't he take it a step further and present a full opposition team?
To the 58 million American voters who've refused to join Barack Obama's creepy cult, these are difficult times. With the mainstream media eagerly awaiting their Dear Leader's orders, independent-minded citizens are left with few places to turn as they race to save the country they love.
Adding to the discomfort is the way some GOP moderates have seemingly jumped on board Obama's ship, oblivious to the likelihood that it will soon sink as his political bubble bursts, dot.com-style.
One non-believing medium their Messiah has yet to dismantle is talk radio, where Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity have been pounding away at Obama's hollow rhetoric and empty promises. During the course of the campaign, the King Of All Egos went after the FOX News Channel host by name, but now he's aiming squarely at his most outspoken foe: El Rushbo himself.
WASHINGTON -- President Obama warned Republicans on Capitol Hill today that they need to quit listening to radio king Rush Limbaugh if they want to get along with Democrats and the new administration.
"You can't just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done," he told top GOP leaders, whom he had invited to the White House to discuss his nearly $1 trillion stimulus package.
One White House official confirmed the comment but said he was simply trying to make a larger point about bipartisan efforts.
"There are big things that unify Republicans and Democrats," the official said. "We shouldn't let partisan politics derail what are very important things that need to get done."
That wasn't Obama's only jab at Republicans today.
In an exchange with Rep. Eric Cantor (R-Va.) about the proposal, the president shot back: "I won," according to aides briefed on the meeting.
"I will trump you on that."
Beyond the absurdity of a Democrat barking orders at his political opposition, he's especially foolish to air his fear of Limbaugh and talk radio in a public setting. Now, what was long suspected by conservatives has been verified by the man himself.
And after a wildly successful fall ratings survey, talk radio is looking forward to record numbers with the installation of the Obamists.
Obama's words are also perfectly timed to meddle in another big battle underway right now: the race for leadership of the Republican Party, a fight that pits conservative grassroots supporters against traditional, elitist blueblood interests.
RUSH: Ladies and gentlemen, stop what you're doing for just a second, will you? If you're driving, keep driving and pay attention. But if you can stop, stop what you're doing. Something profound here that just came across the Bloomberg wire and I wish to share it with you.
And as a setup, as a preamble, I said last night in the part two of my interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News as we were discussing the problems in the Republican Party, and I said -- split any number of ways, but I said, "What it really comes down to, Sean..." and you've heard me say this from behind the Golden EIB Microphone.
What it really comes down to is that the Republican Party is made up of a bunch of elites, moderate Rockefeller types. And the dirty little secret is that they resent being in the same party with a bunch of people who are pro-life, because the pro-life people are from the (southern accent) South, they're Southerners, and they like NASCAR and they chew tobacco-uh.
And they just hate going to the conventions, the Republican Party conventions and they get teased by their liberal elite buddies in New York and Boston and the whole northeastern corridor and California, too, for having these Deliverance types is what they think of them as, in the same party. Plus these guys, these Rockefeller liberal Republican guys, wives are always nagging 'em about abortion, to get the Republican Party to get rid of it 'cause, "You can't win with it," even though we've won landslides. I said this last night, and it's probably one of the first times it has been said so directly and powerfully on television. I've said it on this radio show numerous today. That's the preamble. A Bloomberg story out just this afternoon by Heidi Przybyla: "Republican Battle for Party Chairman Pits Leaders Against Base."
Now, wait. It's not what you think. "Republican leaders' efforts to select a new national party chairman are stirring concerns among a vital constituency: Republican voters." Tell me if you believe this. "Rank-and-file..." This is what it says here. "Rank-and-file Republicans are telling their leaders they want more ethnic, gender and age diversity in a party that is dominated by white males. They also want party leaders to cooperate with President Barack Obama, according to surveys." Now, let me continue. "After losing the White House and 28 seats in Congress last year, some party leaders still aren't hearing the message from voters who are urging them to claw their way back to power by promoting minorities and striking a less partisan tone, said Rich Bond, a former Republican National Committee chairman. 'We need...'"
After a roughstartfor the Obamists this week, the last thing they want is a viable, effective opposition movement. Rush, Sean and others provide hope that America can be saved from this budding dictator and his cultist followers.
But as the new regime oversteps its bounds, it is far more likely to elevate talk hosts to heights they've never before seen, proving Obama is truly a rank amateur.
There are two things going on here. One prong of the Great Unifier's plan is to isolate elected Republicans from their voters and supporters by making the argument about me and not about his plan. He is hoping that these Republicans will also publicly denounce me and thus marginalize me. And who knows? Are ideological and philosophical ties enough to keep the GOP loyal to their voters?
Meanwhile, the effort to foist all blame for this mess on the private sector continues unabated when most of the blame for this current debacle can be laid at the feet of the Congress and a couple of former presidents. And there is a strategic reason for this.
Would embattled Democratic Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich give up his current job for a weekend radio gig? Chicago's WLS-AM has decided there's only one way to find out: ask him directly.
In exchange for resigning over the senate seat sale scandal that has revealed the ugly nature of the state's Democratic Party machine, WLS management has promised him a Sunday afternoon slot from noon - 2pm to talk about whatever he wishes. From the AP (via the station's website):
CHICAGO (AP) -- A Chicago radio station is offering embattled Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich a new job.
During a show early Thursday, the program director at WLS-AM announced that if Blagojevich resigns, the station will offer him his own weekly radio program from noon to 2 p.m. on Sundays.
Program director Bob Shomper said the station is asking the governor to spare the state the embarrassment and expense of forcibly removing him from office.
Blagojevich has been impeached by the state House and faces an impeachment trial in the Senate starting Monday that could end with his removal.
Shomper says the station's offer reflects the will of the people, who he says want the governor gone.
Messages left for the governor's spokesman were not immediately returned Thursday.
Though the station hasn't yet received an answer, it's likely to get one tomorrow morning, as WLS morning hosts Don Wade & Roma get the opportunity to interview Blago directly.
What's interesting is just how dull these wildly corrupt Dems can sound once they're behind a microphone. This may be why WLS is offering just two hours on Sunday, rather than a fulltime weekday gig.
WLS-AM/Chicago, a once respectable and great sounding station, offers Blago an airshift if he’ll resign as gov of IL. WRKO in Boston lets a former politician take over morning drive. An FM music station in L.A. puts a comedian in drive time.
What do those stations have in common? Short term thinking. Go for a big name with no radio experience and hope the initial wave of publcity brings ratings and revenue. It seldom ever does.
Shame on the owners and their station puppets. They crapshoot on “names” because they drained the talent pool. A guy or gal who would’ve moved into morning drive from afternoons, nights or even overnights–after dues paying–doesn’t exist anymore, replaced by syndication.
And thanks, owners, for failing to experiment and/or develop talent on the weekends. You’ve decided to fill Saturdays and Sundays with what Monday-Friday cume really wants to hear–hour after hour of infomercials hosted by snakeoil salesmen, or brokered (meaning paid for) programming hosted by the somnolent local insurance agency owner or the mortgage broker. Now THAT’s great programming! How long before they buy their way into drive times to replace the big names that bombed?
Where WRKO and WPRO were crazy enough to actually believe their felons could generate drivetime ratings, the move by WLS is really more of a low-risk stunt. In the unlikely (??) event that Blago actually took the job, it would create a publicity windfall for the station without risking its weekday lineup.
And if he stinks on the air, who's going to notice on a Sunday afternoon?
Nonetheless, the idea that talk radio should be a dumping ground for Democratic Party criminals is disturbing and shouldn't be condoned by anyone.

Just one day after the breathtaking excess, boorish behavior and sickening trashing of the Capitol by the Obamists, talk radio hosts couldn't possibly be more upbeat.
Just a few days ago, despair was the order of the day for many, but a clearer picture has changed that view. Instead of worrying about whether a viable opposition movement will emerge, it is now far more likely that the Barack-lash will be unlike anything previously seen in American history.
For answers as to how and why circumstances have shifted so quickly, let's examine the specifics:
In writing his own speech, Obama made a key tactical error. As a result, it came across as lackluster and disjointed (as Rush Limbaugh explains here) rather than polished and memorable. Not a strong way to kick off a new administration.
The sickening manner in which Obamists trashed the Capitol grounds is generating attention today, especially at the Drudge Report, where readers are submitting photos of the mess. Obama's supporters are certifiable slobs.
Already using official resources to attack Bush via the White House website over Hurricane Katrina, the Obamist Regime has already shown that it is willing to break protocol for the sake of petty, partisan politics. During today's Laura Ingraham Show, even longtime Democratic Party operative Lanny Davis denounced the move.
Talk hosts are finally waking up to the reality that they are now on the offensive. That brings tremendous benefits. As New England regional talker Howie Carr notes in today's Boston Herald, "the blame game is over for moonbats."
The mainstream news media's shameless fawning over Obama has permanently destroyed its credibility and will be difficult to maintain as the regime begins to alienate some of its supporters (inevitable once it begins to take unpopular stances). Talk hosts and bloggers are now in position to go after Obama's most outrageous partisans, with Gwen Ifill and others topping the list.
Initial crowd estimates appear to have been too large, with numbers reduced sharply. In November, four million were expected to attend the inauguration, but a new report places the actual number at about a million, which may not have even set a record. Further, several parties were actually cancelled due to poor ticket sales.
In addition, despite unprecedented hype, TV ratings fell far short of expectations. In fact, a surprisingly small minority of Americans tuned in for Tuesday's overkill. It beat Jimmy Carter's inauguration by just three million viewers. Considering how substantially the population has grown since then, this is less than impressive.
Just weeks ago, it appeared the Obamists would be formidable. Now, talkers and bloggers are delighted to discover that his regime is a mere anomaly on the continuing path of American greatness. And during this brief, Carter-like period, he will provide a daily helping of fodder that will allow the conservative movement to rebuild in a manner stronger than ever before.
Beyond that, the Obamists are clearly smaller in number than previously thought. A large number of Americans have refused to join the cult.
Over time, Americans will come to see that the Obamists bring false hope and empty promises. As their belief in him fades, a strong opposition will need to be in place to fill the leadership void.

During a strangely divisive, downbeat and depressing inaugural speech by incoming ruler Barack Obama, non-believers hoping for an alternative perspective from Rush Limbaugh were disappointed to find some affiliates suppressing his comments.
Though Limbaugh's plans to provide a real-time reaction to Obama's oratory were spelled out to stations more than a week in advance by Premiere Radio Networks, at least a few (and perhaps many more) chose to self-censor his remarks.
RUSH: A programming note for those of you who are affiliates on the EIB Network, just as a reminder we are going to carry the immaculation tomorrow. We're going to carry the Immaculate Inauguration, the swearing in and the speech, the inaugural address by Barack Obama. There will be live commentary as we are known for here on the EIB Network during the immaculation address itself. However, ladies and gentlemen, I don't think at this point in time that we are going to stick with coverage of the parade. I mean we could do that, and I could describe for you the bands and the circus acts and the clowns and so forth that I see on television coverage, but I mean you could turn on the television for that.
