Ed Schultz, Hillary Clinton, Talk Radio
LIBERAL VS LIBERAL
Talker Denounces Treatment From Hillary Clinton
*** With updates below ***
Grab a bag of popcorn and prepare to be entertained!
Here's today's main event: in his now- public battle with Hillary Clinton, syndicated libtalker Ed Schultz has taken the gloves off!
In a tirade posted on his website, the Fargo- based "Big Eddie" faults Hillary's campaign for failing to be accessible and further calls her arrogant:
At NewsBusters, Noel Sheppard offers his take on the battle. In addition, Ed's listeners have posted comments about the flap here.
As for our take on this, having been on the receiving end of producer Holm's aggressive tactics, we wonder if that might have something to do with it.
At the same time, Clinton does have a reputation for inaccessibility, with families of 9-11 victims even having past troubles getting a personal meeting with the New York senator.
As for beating Hannity in a number of places, it's possible, but we'd like to see the numbers on that one.
ELSEWHERE: updates at SaveWRKO.
UPDATE: a key radio insider with knowledge of the ratings wrote to us regarding Hannity and Schultz:

Here's today's main event: in his now- public battle with Hillary Clinton, syndicated libtalker Ed Schultz has taken the gloves off!

"What loyal listeners should know about Hillary and her people"
By Ed Schultz
Hillary Clinton is off and running. Great! What does it mean for progressive talk and the audience?
Loyal listeners to the Ed Schultz show have helped us propel into the top 10 of syndicated talk shows in the industry. We are proud of that and our recent numbers coming back show we are beating Sean Hannity is numerous markets. What we do works.
Convincing Hillary Clinton and her arrogant handlers of that is a different battle in itself. We are known for connecting with the newsmakers as well as any talk show.
Many of you have requested hearing from Hillary on progressive talk especially The Ed Schultz Show. I want you to know our producer James Holm tirelessly works the contacts and has repeatedly tried to connect with Clinton's people.
Cutting to the chase, Hillary's people treat us like dirt. We are constantly disregarded, told things that aren't true, and given speculation an interview might happen someday.
Quite frankly, I'm sick of it. This morning I watched Hillary Clinton tell CNN she is accessible. What? To the TV cameras yes, to the base of loyal listeners on progressive talk radio, absolutely not!
Reaching over 2.5 million listeners who are engaged in changing the country I believe qualifies us for some attention. I realize Hillary is an international figure and star but this pattern of treatment to The Ed Schultz Show has been an on-going pattern which tells me all they care about is her mug on TV.
The conservatives have done wonders with audio continually talking to and solidifying their base. It's apparent to me radio is minor to the people surrounding this leading candidate.
When Wendy and I see Hillary from time to time she is more than respectful, likeable, and seemingly interested in how we are doing. But when it comes to supplying any workable connection to helping progressive talk it all falls short.
Hillary tells us how much she cares about progressives on radio but we just don't get the love. I just thought as listeners you might want to know this.

UPDATE: a key radio insider with knowledge of the ratings wrote to us regarding Hannity and Schultz:
When Schultz and Hannity went head to head, Sean often beat Ed in his home market of Fargo, North Dakota.
It's possible that due to certain circumstances, such as weak signals, or being added to a new station, Schultz may beat Hannity in a few places.
The bottom line is that his show is not doing that well, as he never became the "liberal" Rush Limbaugh.
Remember, he took fundraising money from DEMOCRATIC politicians just to even get on the air. He's bought and paid for by partisan operatives.

Brian, I am sorely ashamed of you.
After you went to so much trouble pointing out how awful AAR is for having employed the woman who so unfortunately died in Iraq, you have done _NOTHING_ to call them to task for having been responsible for driving the woman to her untimely demise.
Now, you headline a story about Ed Schultz, and do not only _NOTHING_ to impugn is liberal leanings, but also fail to point out his (and Al Franken's) guilt-by-association regarding the woman who was driven to what became an apparent suicide.
Why are you letting them slide?

TJ, you might want to get a refund on that crack purchase, it must be spiked.
By Brian Maloney, at 24 January, 2007 18:04
Who said Ed Schultz is a liberal?
Who said Hillary is a liberal??
Schultz is a putz anyway, and the fact that you'd come out in his favor just confirms to your audience what Schultz's true leanings are....
A non-controversy. I assure you that if Schultz is going to demand attention from any presidential candidate, he'll have to wait in line...
Maybe he got confused and thought he was Mark Levin for a moment there.
Sheesh!!
By hashfanatic, at 24 January, 2007 18:10
Maloney,
I am afraid you will find any attempt at "controversy" surrounding anything Ed Schultz says met with indifference among Democrats (liberal or otherwise).
I have nothing against Ed Schultz, but he should be hosting a show on barbecuing or college football.

Get a refund for a drug that has more of an impact?
You're weird, and backwards.
Still, your spurious retort does nothing to hide the fact that you behaved shamelessly, and refuse to do anything to recant your unsupportable smear of Air America Radio, as well as for belittling a poor woman's tragic and heroic death in doing so.
Just trying to keep you "honest", whatever that means to you.
By TJ, at 24 January, 2007 18:57
TJ, if drugs aren't your excuse then you're just plain being dishonest, nothing of the sort was said here.
By Brian Maloney, at 24 January, 2007 19:08
You can lie so directly in the face of what you wrote?
Did you not simply fabricate from your own biased supposition that the woman's employment with Air America Radio must have been stressful?
Did you not include such a statement in the story without a shred of factual evidence - instead merely as a pointless attack on Air America Radio?
The answer to both questions is "yes".
And here's the url that proves it:

The fact that you cannot admit it shows how pathetically small of a person you are - I very much hesitate to use the phrase "human being" to describe you.

My my my, Maloney...
You were so quick to call me a druggie and a liar - until I presented you with the FACTS of what you did...
You are so funny - and predictable.
What a loser - you cannot stand by your own actions...
and, no, simply saying "no, I didn't" won't suffice - even your loyal stand-by's NEVER responded to my statements - because they KNOW what you did...they, like you, ignored it and waited for it to simply go away...
C'mon, Maloney - as must as it would be completely against your nature, be a man.
Say it. Say, "I did in fact do what you said, I did, TJ - and I simply stand by my article".
That, after all, would only be the truth...
By TJ, at 24 January, 2007 22:51
TJ,
You can't handle the truth. Your tinfoil hat is on too tight.
The "Hildebeast" is notorius for only talking to "pet reporters" who only ask pre-agreed to questions that the Hildebeast has canned answers to.
When the Hildebeast is in Iowa, she hold CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC "listening sessions". But, honest Democrats know the Clintons have cherry picked their audience and questioners since 91.
With real competition within the Democrat party, the Clintons controlled propaganda settings won't work. People have other outlets to testify to The Hildebeast ducking real and hard questions and questioners.

". But, honest Democrats know the Clintons have cherry picked their audience and questioners since 91.
and the filthy Bush administration hand picked Town Hall meetings leading up to the 2004 election. They attacked Democrats with secret sevie just for wanting to see the president in person. Dems picking which media to interview them, considering the media are attack dogs for the GOP, it is a smart thing to do.
Another con, destroyed with facts.
On Marc Levin, nothing worse than a sissy boy shrieking about how important it is to send more troops to die. Not even Savage stoops that low. Levin is a disgrace to humanity. He deserves a serious punch in the mouth. Nobody deserves it more than than obnoxious little sissy boy.
By Minister of Propaganda, at 25 January, 2007 09:25
Fudgepacker Dan is far too busy weeping over dead mercenaries to care about FACTS.....
Levin is pure evil and should be deported as soon as humanely possible.
Another brilliant staffing move, Phil.
We'll all be sad to see fifty-thousand watts of power hit the junkpile.
By hashfanatic, at 25 January, 2007 09:37
Speaking of Hillary, more proof cons lie and lie and lie and you 12%ers swallow the shit they feed you
http://mediamatters.org/items/200701230009
Hillary recorded her announcement months before, LIE. The "newsbusters' website even admitted they were wrong, did not stop numerous right wing flunkies from repeating the lie.
Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck, Boortz all repeated the LIE.
cons: have ZERO credibility
By Minister of Propaganda, at 25 January, 2007 09:41
Hash,
You are no American. Not only are you hatefilled, but you make up criteria for deportation. Now, if disagreement is the sole reason for deportation, you and sewerboy are long overdue for deportation to Cuba.
The Hildebeast has been running for the WH since the moving vans evected her and Bubba to Chappaqua.
Get real you two SoreLowermen.
By PCD, at 25 January, 2007 10:58
see, Brian? One of your fans made a weak attempt (weak in this case is avery kind word) to support you with an ad-hominem attack (just like you!) at me which in no way, shape, or form addressed the FACT that you used a woman's tragic death to smear AAR.
As I have said - what you did was completely unsupportable, and undeniable.
I would make some comment measuring your manhood - but I doubt it would amount to anything....
By TJ, at 25 January, 2007 10:58
Tj,
You are a brain dead SoreLoserman yourself. You are flogging a dead horse. If you want to keep being an idiot, be my guest.
By PCD, at 25 January, 2007 12:02
Again, again an attack in support of you, Brian, without any relevance...
See how obviously the truth reveals itself?
"...dead horse", indeed - an easy, if obvious, dodge of the facts...
By TJ, at 25 January, 2007 13:21
You'll have to excuse Fudgie...he's drunk on Crazy Horse and Kevin McCullough again....
