Dr Laura Schlessinger Newspaper Column, Deryk Schlessinger
PULLING BACK
After Allegations Against Son, Dr Laura Retreats From View
Days after allegations against her son appeared in a newspaper story, Dr Laura Schlessinger is at least partially retreating from public view. According to the Washington Post, the radio advice host has temporarily ceased writing her column, which appears in the Santa Barbara News- Press.
Still a mystery, however, is whether allegations made against son Deryk have any basis in fact. The 21- year- old soldier, who is currently serving in Afghanistan, has been accused of setting up an obscene and disturbing MySpace page. It has since been taken down.
The story originated with a Salt Lake Tribune reporter who has been criticized for previous coverage of Dr Laura. Since then, few other papers have picked up the story and it still isn't clear whether Deryk or others are responsible for the website images.

Still a mystery whether Shlessiger's son did this? Only in the warped world you live in.
He did it.
Not surprisingly, Schlessinger, who proudly has proclaimed that she raised her son to be a "warrior," (what trashy novel did she get that line from?) has managed to raise a son whose psychopathology is rivaled only by her own.
Oh, and she's hated in Santa Barbara, a place I know well. It's only because some nutty rich widow, a type which abounds in Santa Barbara, has bought the local paper (which she has proceeded to destroy with an efficiency that almost implies that that was her rational goal) and featured her column.
Let it be clearly known that the gentry of Montecito and Santa Barbara have been appalled by Schlessinger's column. It won't be missed.

Oh, and let's do see stern moralist Dr. Laura's most famous photo spread one more time:

As per Deryk's high school best friend, the page was 100% legit, you hack. Do you think Dr.laura is important enough for a Salt Lake City Newspaper in the most conservative state in America to report an unverified story?
You are a complete hack, the only reason why the story has limited traction: NOBODY KNOWS DR.LAURA nor CARES. Talk radio hacks are not BIG NEWS.

Thank you Metro and Multiple personality MoPoop. Your displays of Bush Derangement Syndrome are duly noted.
Both of you make claimw that neither of you can back up, but continue to state your personal opinions as fact. Morons.

PCD, call the reporter up at the newspaper, that is how I verified the story, retard
Dr. Laura is sick and so are you, you filthy child molesting piece of crap

Hopefully that Son of Bitch gets court martialed before he can unleash his perversion on innocent civilians in Afghanistan.
As for Dr. Laura, this is further evidence of the kind of sickness and debauchery she has hidden behind the veneer of righteousness anad moral superiority.
Find yourself another filthy role model for your "exclusive interviews" Maloney you bastard because this one has no credibility remaining.

Considering the issue hasn't been picked up by other sources, I am highly suspect of it. A story like this would be major news for the New York Post, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, and others...but I don't see even a single word in any of those papers. Can any one of the people on here tell me why, if this story is as true as people say it is?
Also, who vetted the "high school friend"? Is there any other corroboration?
Until these questions are answered, no one has a case.

"Can any one of the people on here tell me why, if this story is as true as people say it is?"
Yomi, I think your question pretty much answers itself.
The New York Post would close its doors before it would speak ill of "Dr." Laura or any of her ilk.
By hashfanatic, at 25 May, 2007 22:52
And yet the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, LA Times, the Oregonian, and other major newspapers that tilt portside haven't reported on it.
Can you explain that, hashfanatic? Because your answer wasn't an answer, it was a dodge.
By Anonymous, at 26 May, 2007 17:29
No, it wasn't.
None of the newspapers, right or left, will dare touch "Dr." Laura's story because she is a darling of the far right and of a certain type of evangelicals, and because even suggesting one of our "proud warriors" could behave as a sadistic sociopath would trigger the same sort of firestorm that the Imus controversy did.
Neocons and this rogue administration are simply better at covering up whatever embarrasses them....they've had close to thirty years of practice (and were allowed to get away with it).

You're welcome, PCD.
And thank you, PCD. You ain't bright enough, as far as I can tell, to have much money--unless it's inherited.
Let me suggest that you are a good example of Poor Republican Derangement syndrome.
You actually think the rich fucks who run this country are gonna stick wads of cash up your ass if your bend over far enough.
Sorry to say, rich people never pick up the tab. They let poor suckers do it who always think, next time, next dinner, the rich will invite them into their club.
Never happens.

Actually, PCD, I apologize for that last comment. It was grotesquely out of line. I did it after I had been slurping down Manhattans with friends.
Just remember, if you drink, don't post; if you post, don't drink.
Ciao, Belli.

Dr. Laura is only responsible for her actions, no one else's, including her son! She says in her show that she is a recovered feminist, and people have to go on from here, they can't change the mistakes of their past (being a feminist).
