The Radio Equalizer: Brian Maloney

Talk Radio, Senator James Inhofe, Barbara Boxer, Hillary Clinton

OVERHEARD IN THE HALLS

Are Clinton, Boxer Planning Anti-Talk Push?

Are Senators Hillary Clinton and Barbara Boxer planning a legislative push to put the brakes on conservative talk radio?

That's the contention of Senator James Inhofe (R-OK), who says he overheard the angry Marin County hothead plotting just such an effort with the newest member of the Sopranos family.

According to Inhofe, both were so worked up over talk radio's impact, they didn't seem to care that a Republican was in listening range! Ultimately, he confronted them, pointing out that the marketplace has already rejected "progressive" talk.

The interview took place on KFI radio in Los Angeles and was captured by BreitbartTV:

The big question: why now? What is it about talk radio that has Capitol Hill so enraged these days?

  • Talk radio has been in need of recalibration for many years now.

By Blogger hashfanatic, at 22 June, 2007 01:02

  • Hash,

The only things in need of recalibration are you, MoPoop, elmo, and the other left wingnuts who want quotas for left wing lies on the air, but scream freedom of the press when any type of balancing for all other media is brought forth.

The marketplace works. You can't handle losing in the battle of ideas.

By Blogger PCD, at 22 June, 2007 10:23

  • And you can't handle losing elections. You have to get the Supreme Court to step in and appoint your boy President instead of counting the votes. Have a nice day.

By Blogger Scott, at 22 June, 2007 10:57

  • Yoc PCD can not handle losing the battle of ideas moonbat.

First, nobody is seriously dicussing the fairness doctrine, this is the first moonbat, cackpot 21%er lie.

What is being discussed is TRUST BUSTING, and changing owenership laws, so right off the bat, you are arguing against the fairness doctrine yet, only 2 congresmen have ever mentioned bringing it back.

What you should be arguing for is the retainment of Clinton's telecommunications act of 1996, which allowed big business to gobble up as many outlets in the media as possible. Can PCD explain to his fellow moonbats why monopolies are good for radio? This is the argument. There is serious discussion in congress about changing ownership laws, not the Fairness doctrine.

The only reason why moonbat cons are crapping their pants at the mention of FAIRNESS DOCTRINE is simple, YOU LOSE THE BATTLE OF IDEAS when both sides are presented, as you do EVERY DAY on this message board, when I refute every last point you hacks try to make.
The only reason why RNC radio dominates is the lack of variety in ownership of radio frequencies, the monopoloy big 5, take RNC radio because RNC radio, like Bill Clinton, hate trust busting, love monopolies and will do the bidding of the right wing who will protect the monoploy. Why would citadel or clear channel, want a host on that would speak against broadcasting monopolies, it hurts their business.

RNC radio domination has nothing to do with popularity of radical moonbat viewpoints, nothing to do with the right "winning the battle of ideas either. It is about hosts towing the big business line. You lost the battle for American hearts and minds a long time ago. As public opinion polls clearly prove America is shifting LEFT, big time. Refute it HACK, I have plenty of facts to toss at you.........

Refute me PCD, I dare you.
Your viewpoint is the minority and
RNC radio hosts viewpoints represent the minority.

And you fear the "fairness doctrine" because side by side, you lose every single time

    this is too much fun.
    god I hate you freaks

And i challange any right winger out there, to come on our podcast if you visit NY this summer, we will gladly have you on, let you speak and refute and defeat you in any argument

  • Scott, you are one sick puppy. Let it go. You LOST!!! You just can't cherry pick your strongest counties to look for more votss, and barring that use multiple recounts of punch card ballots to wear out valid votes in hopes that you get more of your opponent's votes disqualified than you do yours.

    You are really pathetic.

    MoPoop,

you are a piece of crap repeating the Think Progress blueprint for censoring the right off the air waves. You can't even be that honest. What a loser you are.

Your mental illness is manifest in your long, angry screeds. Seek mental help, MoPoop.

By Blogger PCD, at 22 June, 2007 11:34

  • "The marketplace works. You can't handle losing in the battle of ideas."

The problem with your weak, pathetic defense is that FACTS are not decided by the marketplace...

What are you going to do when you don't have any liars to listen to anymore?

There IS no such thing as a free market.

    The roof is on fire....

You are one sick freak of nature.
first, I clearly explained in the post, thet nobody is discussing the fairness doctrine except for 2 obscure congressman, the issue is trust busting.

Are you too damm ignorant to discuss the issue of trustbusting?
Do you support the Clinton telecommunications act of 1996, which created the monopolies. your little nazi tatics of calling me crazy, only make you look ignorant.

NOW EXPLAIN THE FOLLOWING, or once more you will come accross as an ignorant HACK.

    a. why are monopolies good for radio?

    B. fairness doctrine (which is not even really an issue) how is a bill which requires fairness, 2 sides an attempt of silencing free speech??

    once more PCD,
    I outclassed you
ran all over you with FACTS and the issues

you can not successfully debater me, you fool.

    Answer my questions HACK.

if you fail to do so

    I WON YET ANOTHER DEBATE.

    ANSWER THE QUESTIONS
    DEFEND YOUR OPINION

calling me "crazy" does not work

My post above was FACT filled and fully forme, structured and relevant

you hit me back with NOTHING.

    Accept my challange

answer my 2 questions, or once more, I WIN, and you look like a little shell of a man , weaseling your way out of another debate.

The eyes of the blogosphere are now turned on your respone.

The moment of truth is upon you
Are you a HACK, with a brain of a child, or do you have any idea of the issues................

  • One more thing PCD
you dirty, filthy little Anti-American freak of Nature

    After the recount in 2000
    GORE WON FLORIDIA

    DEAL WITH IT

and now the validity of 2004's election is in serious doubt as well.

Yesterday deputy Mcnulty was under oath discussing VOTER CAGING, as in voter supression and the now famous VOTER CAGING LIST 9broken by BBc reporter Greg palaste) where black voters and veterans serving overseas were taken off the voter role in Floridia. YEP, the issue is not being discussed in the senate.
Rove, gonzales and McNulty along with that filthy degenrate Tim Griffin, took real voters off the voting lists in fl. in 2004

    not conspiracy

    FACT.

so PCD, still think Bush won?

Gore won the recount, filthy anti-American freak

and 2004 was won by voter supression, FACTS.
    i only deal with FACTS.
    go check speaker.gov

The cheats are being exposed for what they are

I tend to believe this caging issue will wake America up, and right wingers will become wealking targets as they hate the right for ALL AMERICANS TO VOTE

The CONS supressed the black vote
    the CONS suppressed military voters

    are you proud PCD?

    Why do you hate America
    ?

By Blogger Minister of Propaganda, at 22 June, 2007 12:16

  • MoPoop,

What a lunatic you are. Gore lost Florida in 2000. Even the newspapers who recounted using the laws in place at the time of the election had to admit GORE LOST!

What a sick, pathetic being you are, MoPoop.

By Blogger PCD, at 22 June, 2007 13:32

  • Pcd

your a pathological liar, they had a full recount in 2003 finally, and GORE won. America knows this, you filthy littrle bastard. Catherine Harris, that filthy whore paid the price for subverting democracy in Floridia, as she was booted out on her ass.

I noticed you cant address the 2 questions I asked you

and you ignored the voter caging scandal, which proves how corrupt the filthy GOP is and how they stifled the free and fair elections

Your party is hated by Americans
Bush never won the election in 2000
After the full recount AL GORE WON, you filthy liar.

you just can not handle reality, nor can you back your opinion on the fairness doctrine with facts, and you can address the issue of media monopolies.
    BAD NEWS PCD
America understands who won in 2000

Your sick hero Bush is despied by America, America understands what happened in 2000 and now 2004

    Trust me scumbag,
the voter caging scam is being exposed

America will know exactly what kind of filth the Republican party is

and when the voter caging scam is on the tips of everybodies tongue, expect a civil war in this country, you filthy Anti-American freak

The RNC approved and complict media is terrifeid of the voter caging scam, this scam will bring a civil war to the streets , the GOP subverted democacy in 2004

    PROVEN

you will not steal our votes ever again

I preomise you scum bag freaks, blood will be spilled on the streets if the right wing tries to subvert the vote again and it will not be our blood, you CONS, you are going to be targets of patriots nationwide, you will NEVER subvert the VOTE AGAIN.

Do you understand Anti-american , Anti-democratic election freak?

YOUR GOP will NOT EVER hinder democracy again.

let the blood spill, if they try to do so.

By Blogger Minister of Propaganda, at 22 June, 2007 13:55

  • PCD,

    Politeness still counts.

    MoP,

    After the recount in 2000
    GORE WON FLORIDIA

Even the NYTimes says no to that. http://www.nytimes.com/pages/politics/recount/

And if votes were illegally suppressed in 2004, by either party, yes, investigations need to be made. It sure seems as if both sides are pretty good at voter fraud, regardless of who is in power.

If you disagree with that, go read Bill Sammon's "At Any Cost" and see how legitimate absentee ballots of active military were challenged en masse by Gore's team.

Oh, and by the way, Nixon won Illinois in 1960, too. And Tilden won in 1876. It's over; let it go.

What were we really talking about again? Oh, yeah, monopolies haven't been great for radio...unless you like ClearChannel clones in every town. FM radio has little personality left to it, and AM has become the place for people to express their opinions as loudly as possible, with little regard to how informed they are. (Sports radio is really good at illustrating this.)

p.s. MoP, I finally answered your question of last week in that topic, but it's fallen off Mr. Maloney's front page. Let me know if you can't find it.

    Bye :)

By Blogger Snowed In, at 22 June, 2007 13:57

  • MoP,

If you could provide an actual source for your 2000 recount assertions, it would help the discussion. Simply repeating yourself in a louder voice does not.

By Blogger Snowed In, at 22 June, 2007 14:00

good place to start, tons of links.

So Snowed in , so you agree with me on the need to do away with the telecommunications bill of 1996? After all that is the real issue, not fairness doctrine, since nobody is serious about bringing it back.

By Blogger Minister of Propaganda, at 22 June, 2007 14:24

  • Interesting reading, but if memory serves, the methods that source shows for counting the votes is not the one for which Gore's team argued. Under the one Gore wanted, he still lost.

As for the Telecommunications Act of 1996, was it really intended, as Wikipedia claims, to foster competition? The consolidation that occurred definitely hurt the quality of what was broadcast, and obviously it didn't do much for competition.

Personally, I'd love to see Congress do as I've heard they're considering and remove the 3rd-adjacent-channel restriction, thereby allowing a lot more LPFM stations to start up. I'd prefer that to the rather lame pirate stations my area currently has.

By Blogger Snowed In, at 22 June, 2007 14:54

  • By definition, facts CANNOT be decided by the marketplace.

By Blogger hashfanatic, at 23 June, 2007 02:58

  • Here's a question for the "progressives" to answer:

Given the fact that the vast majority (over 90%) of print and broadcast journalists lean to the left, will you be as vociferous to call for more conservatives in the newsrooms around the nation?

Talk radio is OPINION radio; I think you'd be much more concerned about the extreme one-sided political domination in NEWS organizations than you would of opinion shows...
