Libtalk Bush Bashing, Rachel Maddow, Baby Einstein
BACKLASH POTENTIAL?
Libtalk's Bush-Bashing Obsession Could Help President
Are liberal talk radio hosts capable of going even an hour without bashing President Bush? How about a segment, or even a few minutes?
In the end, the left's obsession with attacking him over anything and everything may actually help Bush emerge from low public approval ratings. Just this week, a five point uptick was noted, according to a USA Today/ Gallup survey, though we don't know the reason for that gain.
With libtalkers now resorting to astonishingly petty reasons to slam him, could a backlash result? What fuels their weird obsession? From this crowd, Bush can't tie his shoes or eat lunch without fresh ridicule.
Need an example? From Tuesday's Rachel Maddow Show on Air America Radio, he was attacked over his support for the firm that created the popular Baby Einstein video series:
Since the speech was given in January and the research data was released to the press just this week, Maddow's attack seems especially unreasonable. In addition, it's clear that Bush was addressing the entrepreneurial environment that exists in America more than anywhere else, not necessarily the merits of viewing Baby Einstein videos.
And given the crazy nature of this kind of research, the next study might very well come up with the opposite conclusion regarding the merits of the Baby Einstein program. Haven't we learned that by now?
Meanwhile, Rush Limbaugh thinks the study's conclusions ought to be obvious: there's no substitute for time spent learning with parents.
If nothing else, cheap attacks against Bush may help to bring disaffected conservatives back into the fold who recently abandoned him over the illegal alien amnesty issue. Beyond that, what about credibility? Does it matter to the libtalk crowd?

Need an example? From Tuesday's Rachel Maddow Show on Air America Radio, he was attacked over his support for the firm that created the popular Baby Einstein video series:
MADDOW: But first, on today’s front page, I want to talk a little bit about Baby Einstein. Did you see the Baby Einstein stuff in the news today?
BUSH: (Chopped up audio from 2007 State Of The Union address) the Baby Einstein, (beep) Baby Einstein (beep) Baby Einstein
MADDOW: Baby Einstein of course is famous because our president inexplicably decided to single out the Baby Einstein in his State Of The Union address this year. Over and over and over again.
BUSH: The Baby Einstein Company was born, (beep) Julie sold Baby Einstein to the Walt Disney Company (beep) Baby Einstein has grown into a $200 million dollar business.
MADDOW: Alright, so that was six months ago. The president lauding Baby Einstein in his State Of The Union address, which was very weird. Well, today in the LA Times, the lead paragraph in there, the lead science story, is quote ‘Parents hoping to raise baby Einsteins by using infant educational videos are actually creating baby Homer Simpsons instead, scientists said today. The new major survey of 1000 parents in Washington State and Minnesota assessed the impact on babies’ vocabularies when they were subjected to brainy baby videos, baby Einstein videos or any so-called infant educational videos.
(Maddow repeats study conclusion that babies who watch the videos actually understand fewer words than those who watch them. Reading to kids shown to be better, according to the research.)
BUSH: the Baby Einstein, (beep) Baby Einstein (beep) Baby Einstein…
MADDOW: Good to know that our President chose to single out this company for praise in the State Of The Union speech. That said, though, this year’s State Of The Union was also the speech that also included Bush’s weird reference to Dikembe Mutombo.

Now your confusing me Brian.
You always say that Liberal talk radio has no audience. Who is there to make the "backlash"?
Consistency is a virtue.
I think his increased rating can only be explained as a dead cat bounce.
"even a dead cat will bounce if it falls from a great height".

In this whole diatribe and your obviously questionable credentials that gives you the capability of condemning the validity of a scientific study (I'm going to take a stab and guess you probably believe in creationism and doubt those scientific studies that demonstrate the reality of global warming), you did make one good point, Brian. Well, actually, your mancrush Rush did.
Nothing substitutes parent/child interaction during their formative years. My six year old reads and speaks at the level of a ten year old and my eleven year old has the reading comprehension of a tenth grader and a vocubulary that is greater than most adults. This didn't come from Baby Einstein, it came from mom and dad. We've never talked down to our daughters and have always engaged them on the same level we expect them to engage us.
The bump in the polls is not totally inexplicable. Though it took him a little longer than expected, the president's comments pertaining to the Minneapolis bridge tragedy gave him, for just a second, the look of a compassionate and decisive leader. Too bad he used the opportunity to blame the Democratic congress and the State of Minnesota for 12 years of Congressional neglect ala Republican dominance and underfunding for infrastructure but, what else would you expect from a "blame everybody but me" mama's boy like George?
As to your point of "libtalk" endlessly bashing the president, I need only remind you of the hardon the right wing talking heads had for the entire eight years of the Clinton presidency. Being in radio the entire administration, I never ceased to be amazed how the reich wing talkers and the MSM looked for anything they could to scandalize Clinton. And they had every right to do so. That's the purpose of the fourth estate, Brian. Their job is to scrutize and criticize ad nauseum whoever is in power. That's called free speech. Are you opposed to that?
So, put it back in your pants, Maloney. The president's numbers are certain to go flaccid again very, very soon. So much for spooning with a smile, eh Maloney?
