Libs Expand Talk Radio Censorship Target List
Not content to limit their anti- talk radio campaign to Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Reilly, the George Soros- funded left has expanded its target list to include additional hosts it finds objectionable.
Now, according to the American Spectator, syndicated stars Sean Hannity and Mark Levin have also been placed on the hit list. Both were added at the urging of Rep Henry Waxman, the ultra- partisan Democrat representing Santa Monica and Los Angeles, reports the Spectator.
In addition, the Media Matters- sponsored anti- Rush effort has morphed into a new public pressure campaign. More on that below.
Interestingly, rather than simply rely on Media Matters and other lefty smear sites for guidance, Waxman has taken the crusade further, ordering his own staff to spend time investigating Hannity and Levin, as well as talk titan Rush Limbaugh:
Meanwhile, Media Matters has expanded its sleazy anti- Rush Limbaugh crusade into a new public pressure campaign designed to get the highly- rated talker removed from individual affiliates. From their site:
Attention Rush supporters: it might be a good time to let your local station know how much you enjoy hearing his show, before these people succeed in purging talk radio of anyone they don't like.

PATRIOTIC GORE
The Democrat Party senior leadership is feeling a Rush. Rush Limbaugh, that is. Late last week, DNC Chair Howard Dean, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, his deputy, Sen. Dick Durbin and Senatorial Committee chair, Sen. Chuck Schumer, and Speaker Nancy Pelosi all signed off in some form or another direct mail fundraising plans that will feature Limbaugh for their national party.
"'Don't let Limbaugh smear true patriotism,' that's the theme," says a DNC staffer. "We're not going to let Limbaugh determine what soldiers can talk and what soldiers can not."
Bad grammar and ill-informed opinions aside, the DNC hopes to raise millions of dollars of Limbaugh. "If we can't silence him, we should at least make some money to make his life more miserable in a Democratic-controlled Washington in 2008," says a Senate Democrat leadership aide.
Others on the Democrat side are pushing ahead with other plans. Rep. Henry Waxman has asked his investigative staff to begin compiling reports on Limbaugh, and fellow radio hosts Sean Hannity and Mark Levin based on transcripts from their shows, and to call in Federal Communications Commission chairman Kevin Martin to discuss the so-called "Fairness Doctrine."
"Limbaugh isn't the only one who needs to be made uncomfortable about what he says on the radio," says a House leadership source. "We don't have as big a megaphone as these guys, but this all political, and we'll do what we can to gain the advantage. If we can take them off their game for a while, it will help our folks out there on the campaign trail."
Meanwhile, Media Matters has expanded its sleazy anti- Rush Limbaugh crusade into a new public pressure campaign designed to get the highly- rated talker removed from individual affiliates. From their site:
Contact Your Local Rush Limbaugh Radio Station Today
Apparently, it wasn't enough for Rush Limbaugh to call American service members who advocate U.S. withdrawal from Iraq "phony soldiers." Two days later, on September 28, while defending his remarks during the portion of his program broadcast on American Forces Network to our men and women in uniform around the world, Limbaugh went a step further and named decorated Marine Vietnam veteran and Congressman John P. Murtha (D-PA) one of the "phony soldiers."
Then, on October 2, Limbaugh went beyond the pale and assailed VoteVets.org for running an ad featuring Brian McGough, an Afghanistan and Iraq war veteran who received the Purple Heart and was severely injured by an IED in Iraq. Limbaugh called the ad "a blatant use of a valiant combat veteran, lying to him about what I said, then strapping those lies to his belt, sending him out via the media in a TV ad to walk into as many people as he can walk into" -- actually comparing McGough to a suicide bomber!
It's time to take action. Use this online directory of Limbaugh's radio affiliates -- contact your local station directly and let them know what you think of his despicable comments.
Attention Rush supporters: it might be a good time to let your local station know how much you enjoy hearing his show, before these people succeed in purging talk radio of anyone they don't like.

Let's assume, for a moment, that Media Matters is just like MRC, as you suggest (i would disagree, as MRC provides more editorial opinion that actual media quotes, clips, etc.). But again, let's assume.
How come O'Reilly allows MRC reps on his show, but never Media Matters (if only to respond to his attacks on them). Fair & balanced?

Fair & Balanced - yes
But he draws the line when it comes to liars.

Does Media Matters bother to give interviews? They pretty much stay in the shadows.

Members from mediamatters have been on talk shows since 2004, of corse on truth based talk shows, liberal shows. MMFA was on Franken all of the time, currently MMFA members appear on Tom Hartman, and Lionel.
oriely has repeatedly turned down their offer to appear on his show, of corse he is terrified, he wants to continue his lies about george soros

"But he draws the line when it comes to liars."
Strange that the same standard wasn't applied to all the lies regarding Air America and progressive Americans.
By hashfanatic, at 08 October, 2007 16:59
I know that this would be using the tactics of the Looney Left, but if it works so be it.
MSNBC is worse then most on passing on Media Matter lies as news, and Keith Olbermann is worse then the other anchors on that network.
Olbermann's Blog

MSNBC phone # is (201)583-5000
Why not, in good taste,(No "R rated" languege) let them know that we don't care for Ultra Looney Left-Wing Prapoganda being past off as news.

They do, but I have never heard of many of these programs:

Media matters has repeatedly requested a chance to appear on o'reilly's show, in order to respond to his charges against them. they have been turned down each and every time.
what's that old o'reilly line about people hiding under their desk...?

missouri show me:
Most of these programs I had not heard of, but some names are familiar:
The Lionel Show--now on Air America
And to those who think that Fox News didn't give the Marxists their chance:
9/13/07--Paul Waldman on Fox Across America (from the Fox News Talk channel, mainly heard on satellite radio)
7/18/07--Eric Boehlert on The Christine Craft Show (she's the woman who sued KMBC-TV in KC in the mid 1980s for Sexual harassment. Ironically she would work for KFBK in Sacramento--where Limbaugh's talk radio career took off)
6/24/07--Paul Waldman on Keep Hope Alive with the Rev. Jesse Jackson (hmmm, a couple of shakedown artists)
6/16/07--Paul Waldman on Doug Basham & Lydia Cornell (The second name should ring a bell--she was on the 80's sitcom Too Close for Comfort with Ted Knight. She was the hot blonde sister. Cornell has her own website and despite her brain aging from liberalism, she still looks hot).
6/13/07--Paul Waldman on The WMNF Evening News (Tampa, FL) and The KPFA Evening News (Berkeley, CA)--how appropriate! Two of Pacifica's biggest communist affiliates.
There were also appearances on Ed Schultz, Bill Press (he has a radio show? oy!), plus Thom Hartmann (certified nut!), appearances on WNYC Radio, MSNBC, etc.

Thanks for the info, Missouri and Bob Anthony.
Funny - when David Brock wrote hit pieces on Anita Hill and Hillary Clinton, he was reviled by the left as a smear merchant. Now that his Media Matters does the same thing against the right, they're held as giving the gospel truth.

The Fairness Doctrine got pulled because it violates basic freedom of the press and freedom of speech.
Even if brought back it would not survive a court challenge (unless
politically driven moonbats get to
decide it). Who the hell is the government to monitor what is said,
and how much of it?
I would be for a fairness doctrine that would put 50 per cent conservative content in the New York Times; have Hannity co-host
with Rhodes; put Coulter on with
Olbermann; have Rush Limbaugh
co-anchor the CBS Evening News;
put 50 per cent conservative based
movies out in the theatres (not
just Gore and Moore), etc.
You want fairness, liberals?
Rolling Stone(d) would have to
put David Horowitz in its pages.
The Boston Phoenix would have to
put in articles condemning
Gov. Patrick, gay marriage,
legalizing drugs, etc. They would be forced by the government to
do this.
Fair is fair.
Just because people couldn't stand "the molasses dripped voice
of Al Franken" that doesn't
mean successful conservative
talkers be brought down.

So long free speech!
Should congress take action against those whose speech they find offensive? Read the first amendment before you answer.
The Senate resolution mentions Rush Limbaugh by name and they took action against him by writing his employer a letter. The House resolution mentions Limbaugh by name too.
The Senate resolution in support of General Petraeus does not mention Moveon.Org by name nor did they take action. It was still wrong.
Next time it may be you the left finds offensive.
So long to free speech it was nice while it lasted.

All right, MoP, convince me. I've never heard Thom Hartmann (I've barely heard of him before today), so I don't know why he is, as you say, a "certified truth teller". (And here I didn't know that there was a certification agency for that! I wonder how you get certified.)
So, my challenge to you is this: without using any inflammatory language, tell me what Mr. Hartmann says and stands for, and why I should consider his views as truth. As part of the challenge, I will read what you say with an open mind and consider it. However, the moment you say anything inflammatory (and using asterisks in place of letters doesn't change whether something is inflammatory), I stop reading right there.
This could be a great opportunity to "convert" someone who leans conservative (not "Republican"...I'm not currently impressed with either major party) on most issues. Let's see you do it.

Is anyone??
By hashfanatic, at 09 October, 2007 14:30
Bob Anthony,
Thanks for your views about these shows. So it seems MMFA's biggest appearance so far was the Today Show, where they got smacked down by Matt Lauer. Most of these appearances seem to be on local shows or on the far liberal networks (Air America, Pacifica, MSDNC), so they are preaching to the choir.
By Chromium, at 09 October, 2007 22:21
This whole thing was a lie by that rancid, dying turd, the "American Spectator".
Just like WMD in Iraq, like the "Iran threat", on and on, it's more Reich-wing bullshit propaganda to keep the knuckle-draggers fired up.
Your whole neo-fascist ideology is a lie.
By Unknown, at 11 October, 2007 02:58
If you don't like the idea of the government forcing media corporations to balance their coverage -- e.g., with the restoration of the Fairness Doctrine, how about simply providing local audiences an opportunity to vote up or down on what programming they want to hear on their airwaves? The airwaves are public, after all, and broadcasters have an obligation to serve the public -- even if their decisions are made in corporate boardrooms based somewhere else. Or how about this -- the FCC gives locals the opportunity to shut down one radio station every two years, and to vote on an entity of their own choosing to run the station?
Think! You are merely a pawn of the system that monetizes hatred for profit.
