Bay Staters Long Aware Of Obama's Cloned Campaign
NOT A SURPRISE
Obama, Patrick Campaigns Identical From Day One
If you happen to visit Massachusetts today and notice a lot of people chuckling, it's because "news" that Barack Obama's campaign is an outright rerun of Deval Patrick's 2006 gubernatorial run simply isn't.
In New England, that point has been obvious since day one, especially since Obama adopted "Yes We Can" as his slogan, which parallels Patrick's widely-parodied "Together We Can" version (or a Bob The Builder cartoon).
Though Patrick won the 2006 race in a landslide, disrupting nearly two decades of GOP control over the Bay State governor's office, he has since become exceptionally unpopular. The reasons are too numerous to mention here, but include lavish personal spending, his refusal to keep a campaign promise to lower property taxes and push to balance a bloated budget through the establishment of casino gambling.
He also used Obama- like language regarding 9-11, calling it "a failure of human understanding".
Today, the big question is why the national news media didn't connect the dots sooner, instead waiting until Clinton operatives dumped their oppo material onto the public at the last minute. Patrick has campaigned for Obama extensively, didn't anyone notice?
And why weren't more questions raised when Patrick failed to deliver Massachusetts for Obama? On election night, network news pundits seemed befuddled as to how the state could turn in such downright moderate results (both Clinton and Romney won), but let the subject pass with very little analysis.
In New England, however, there was no mystery: talk hosts, bloggers and newspaper columnists had been sounding the alarm about Obama's cloned Patrick campaign for at least a full year. While the word "plagiarist" was generally not used, it was clear to all that Patrick's 2006 effort had served as a trial run for the Illinois senator's 2008 national race.
Regionally- syndicated talker Howie Carr has made this connection a theme of both columns and programs for some time, while WTKK talker Michael Graham had a run-in with the governor over his support for Obama.
Bloggers have been active along these lines since Patrick's election, including at our other site, SaveWRKO, as well as HubPolitics, Deval Patrick Watch and many others.
Today, just about all of New England must be asking voters and pundits this: how did you miss this until now?

Looks like it's what came first, the chicken or the egg.

From July 27, 2004"
The crowd in the Chicago hotel ballroom was fired up last March
BARACK OBAMA: The conventional wisdom was we could not win. There was no way that a skinny guy from the south side with a funny name like Barack Obama could ever win a statewide race. Sixteen months later, we are here.
And Democrats from all across Illinois, suburbs, city, down state, up state, black, white, Hispanic, Asian have declared, yes, we can!
CROWD: Yes we can! Yes we can!

....ok..so what you're saying is that noone, anywhere has ever said words from another speech? No one has ever echoed the same thoughts or ideas from another long after they were originally shared?
Ridiculous

You write that Deval Patrick has become "exceptionally unpopular." Then you link to a poll showing he has a 50% popularity raiting, with 30% disapproving. Are you unable to read numbers Brian, or are you simply too blinded by your own partisanship?
