Senators Deny Conversation, Inhofe Certain

*** Key Update: Inhofe Clarifies Remarks ***

Did the now- infamous Capitol Hill hallway conversation between between Hillary Clinton and Barbara Boxer actually take place? With both Democrats denying it, Senator James Inhofe is standing by his story.

At 6:20pm EDT tonight, Inhofe will give his side of the dispute on John Gibson's FOX News Radio program (click here to listen live online), followed by your Radio Equalizer at 6:35pm with a reaction.

Meanwhile, at ABCNews, Jake Tapper reports both Boxer and Clinton claim the conversation never took place:

UPDATE: Boxer's and Clinton's offices got back to me.

"Senator Boxer told me that either her friend Senator Inhofe needs new glasses or he needs to have his hearing checked, because that conversation never happened," says Natalie Ravitz, the communications director for Boxer.

"Jim Inhofe is wrong," says Philippe Reines, Clinton's press secretary. "This supposed conversation never happened - not in his presence or anywhere else."

Do we have any reason to believe Boxer and Clinton, however? Could they really say with a straight face they wouldn't shut down talk radio in a heartbeat if given the opportunity?

Meanwhile, Noel Sheppard at NewsBusters adds his take on the now- disputed Center For American Progress talk radio study. Does it have any credibility?

UPDATE: Inhofe clarifies remarks, says conversation between Boxer and Clinton took place some time ago, according to Gibson's program.

Inhofe tells Gibson he's mentioned this conversation, overheard while sharing a lift ride with the two senators, many times in speeches, but Drudge picked up the KFI conversation last night, making it appear the discussion had taken place recently.

Inhofe and Gibson feel it's a minor point: what's more important are efforts by the left to shut down conservative talk radio through the Media Ownership Reform Act.

  • Bryan- I was wondering if you had any information on this from Think Progress?

    Ed Schultz:
"How Many Markets Do I Have To Beat Hannity In Before I Get 200 Or 300 Stations?"

Does Schultz really beat Hannity in the ratings game???
    Great work today!

  • So first Inhofe says it happened recently, then three years ago. Some credibility.
Brian -- If you now believe the "three years ago" version, why have Clinton/Boxer introduced ZERO bills related to talk radio? After all, they've had "three years" to work on it.
Could it be because Inhofe was making it up?

  • You are right MOP. They have done nothen. Isn't it great.

  • Since Hillary is a known liar and Barbara Boxer is the stupidest member of the United States Senate, I'll take the work of Senator Inhofe.

Additionally, BroomHillary doesn't need to carry the water for a Fairness Doctrine 2.0, in fact she won't want to be seen anywhere around it. When legislation comes up, if it does, someone other than Hillary will introduce it and gather support for it.

Even if nothing happens on this issue during the 110th Congress, you can be assured that if the demos take the WH in 2009 and retain the Congress, legislation to stifle conservative talk radio will be on their list of things to be done, and it will be near the top.

  • I know first hand that Boxer is a serial, pathological liar. If Hillary and Boxer denied anything, I take that as an admission that it did happen.

Now that Feinstein came out for the (Un)Fairness Doctrine Sunday morning, it just cements the fact that the Democrat party is trying to censor speech to cement their power like Animal Farm or Orwell's 1984

By Blogger PCD, at 25 June, 2007 08:18

  • PCD: Knows firsthand that Boxer is a liar??? Ohhhh did Marc Levin tell you???? F*c*ing hack

By Blogger Minister of Propaganda, at 25 June, 2007 10:22

  • Now, before your very eyes, Maloney admits he is a total hack, liar...........

Inhofe and Gibson feel it's a minor point: what's more important are efforts by the left to shut down conservative talk radio through the Media Ownership Reform Act.

AS I SAID LAST WEEK, THERE IS NO ISSUE REGARDING THE FAIRNESS DOCTRINE, NEVER WAS AND ISSUE, NOW ON THE BOTOM OF ONE OF HIS POSTS, HE ADMITS THE DEBATE IS ABOUT
    MEDIA OWNERSHIP REFORM

    What does this mean??

Evry rightwing host on the air is a filthy LIAR, a degenerate guilty of malicious intent......

Michael Savage and Levin especially, have been urinating in their worshippers ears for 2 months now, shrieking about the fairness doctrine which is not even the ISSUE, as I pointed out on friday, as I pointred out on my little radio show.........

they show complete contemot for their listeners, practically laugh at you.

As I said the Fairness doctrine was NEVER an issue, ownership reform is the issue.

The right wing hack ,can't argue against TRUST BUSTING, because most americans agree with TRUST BUSTING... How is a HACK winger on the radio going to argue in favor of monopolies??????? Do you know how that sounds to 99.99% of Americans? Conservatives are against the free market and fair trade? conservativers favor monoloies over competition?? conservatives favor soviet capitalism, as in few compaines with all the power. Arguing against Trust busting is arguing against the free market itself...........

Now Brian, how on Earth will trust busting and ending CLINTON'S BILL which allowed this to happen, shut down right wing hosts? It will NOT, it will allow more owners, more voices, more con voices and more lib voices........ The ones who work for the biggest are shitting their pants, because their will be COMPETITION!!!!!!

    so CONS are against COMPETITION??

This is the issue, I await a response from the rocket scientist PCD hahahahaahahahahahaah

  • MoPoop,

You delusional clown. It is the Left that is battered and bloodied by competition. The Left, and you, are anti-competition and pro-censorship.

Poopy-boy, you've pedaled lies and swallowed your own crap for so long you've totally lost touch with reality.

You want people to be forced to listen to you. You don't care about their losing their ability to choose, you just want your crap blasted in their ears because you think you aren't being heard.

Well, delusional fool, you are being heard, but you are too delusional to accept that you are being rejected.

    You are pathetic.

By Blogger PCD, at 25 June, 2007 14:36

  • Fudgepacker Dan, isn't it just a bit weird for YOU to be calling anyone "poopy boy"?

By Blogger hashfanatic, at 25 June, 2007 22:13

  • Hash, you are nothing.

MoPoop, I used to live in SoCal and saw first hand how Boxer lied to the public. From her saying she didn't order her office phones shut off when she did, to denying she had a hand in the mudslinging at Bruce Herschensohn, when it was proven she did. Boxer is a liar, and so are you.

By Blogger PCD, at 26 June, 2007 08:43

  • "Herschensohn"....

Fudgie, how transparent of you, so early in the morning!
