MA: What, No Riot This Time?

Even before police officers were in place at key trouble-prone intersections near the end of the Super Bowl, Boston TV stations had their own positions staked out.

They looked visibly disappointed at the small crowds on Boston streets. Where's the riot? Between the cold weather, heavy police presence and written warnings from colleges to their students, it looks like staying home won out.

Plus, pro sports victories are becoming routine in New England these days. This one is still exciting, the next will be met with a collective yawn.

And, the obvious: no halftime flap this year. Where's Janet when you need some numbers? A bust for news ratings, the only saving grace was the close score.
