Once Again, Sharpton Jumps In Front Of The Parade

*** MSNBC Cancels Imus ***

Love him or hate him, you've got to admit one thing: Al Sharpton's a genius.

Who else could so successfully jump in front of the Don Imus Parade Of Shame, despite his own dubious background? Somehow, even with so much personal baggage from past scandals, Sharpton is able to maintain mainstream media credibility on racial issues.

On today's Rush Limbaugh Show, several callers noted the sheer absurdity of seeing Sharpton scold Imus over his now- infamous "nappy- headed hos" comment about the Rutgers women's basketball team.

In this instance, however, what has Sharpton done that was underhanded? He merely invited Imus to appear on his show as a guest and the embattled host accepted the offer.

If Imus had merely said no (and in hindsight that might have been a very good idea), Sharpton's role in this affair would have been much less significant. Shouldn't we also ask Imus why he's chosen to handle the controversy in this way?

An old pro at manipulating the media elite, Sharpton has scored a major victory by bringing attention to his long- floundering talk show. In a particularly telling example, Limbaugh today admitted he didn't know the reverend even had a radio program. Now, everyone knows about it.

Yes, in demonstrating his brilliance at inserting himself into the middle of major news stories, Al Sharpton has once again played us all for fools.

  • For this post at least, I'm leaving off the C&P, Mr. Maloney.

Yes, I said it - Mr Maloney.

This is the most wholly relevant, most intuitive, most independent piece of reporting I've ever seen you do.

    That's right, I said reporting.

Not only is there nothing "wrong" with this article, your points are absolutely and completely dead on.

In short - I am incredibly suprised by this missive by you, Mr. Maloney - but even more than that - I am very impressed.

    Good work.

  • And if I may add this--Brian didn't use "Reverend" Al Sharpton like many of the left-wing media, who support this idiot. If he's a Reverend, WHY ISN'T HE EXCOMMUNICATED?! Same with his partner in shakedowns Jesse Jackson?

  • patriotworld/anthony

    *sigh*

non-catholics don't excommunicate, the same way the catholic church does...

    *double sigh*

  • this has nothing to do with sharpton

this has to do with racism from right-wing talk show hosts

using imus as a poster child
is a way to appear inclusive politically

    without ruining any young
    (and profitable) upstart's career
