WRKO Implosion, Howie Carr, Jason Wolfe, Boston
PD TRASHES OFFICE
Upon Hearing Of Howie Carr's Departure, Wolfe Explodes
*** Exclusive To The Radio Equalizer ***
Upon hearing the unexpected and earth- shattering news that his station would lose its most popular talk host, WRKO Program Director Jason Wolfe exploded in a state of rage, the Radio Equalizer can exclusively report tonight.
We've already been contacted by more than one person on this matter, others with inside information should email radioequalizer (at) aol.com with their own details. This site does not reveal its sources.
Staffers report hearing glass breaking inside Wolfe's office and seeing debris scattered all over his office, spilling outward toward the front door. Others encountered the scene moments later, wondering what had just occurred.
The resulting mess has been the talk of Entercom Boston employees, who say they are shocked by Wolfe's behavior. Will the firm's Human Resources department be called in to deal with the matter?
According to one source, "there was glass and plastic debris all over the floor by the threshold to his office. Behind a closed door he was shouting, "We had a f--kin' deal! He's not goin' anywhere!"
Minutes later, according to the insider, "there was a station- wide page: 'Jason Wolfe, please come to Julie Kahn's office.'"
Kahn is Entercom's market manager for Boston and Wolfe's supervisor.
The loss of market mainstay Howie Carr represents the final, most likely fatal blow for Entercom's WRKO, a once- proud New England mega- talker that has recently imploded. While Kahn's background is in sales, Wolfe comes from the sports- talk realm.
Late last year, the station fired its entire news department and a number of other staffers, replacing its morning show with one hosted by convicted felon Tom Finneran, a move that has so far proven a ratings disaster.
It has never permanently filled a mid- morning position and attempted to prop up Finneran, a talk radio novice, with an assortment of sidekicks.
With Boston's Red Sox flagship station now in a total state of disarray, it's unclear how long Kahn and Wolfe can expect to keep their current positions.
We'll have more on this story as it develops. See our other site for the latest news.

Totally unrelated, but since an earlier post by Brian had suggested Al Franken was in fundraising trouble...

Seems he raised more $$ than incumbant Norm Coleman.

Apologies. Didn't see the below post. Funny Brian also is portraying Franken's fundraising success as a problem -- even though it's obvious he spent the initial cash building up a campaign as any new candidate does, by hiring staff, getting office equipment, etc. -- but Brian no longer even pretends to be objective.
