Rush Limbaugh Auctions Off Harry Reid's Letter For Charity
LEMONS INTO LEMONADE
Senate Letter Denouncing Rush Will Benefit Marine Charity
*** WILD BIDDING INTO THE STRATOSPHERE: Play - By - Play Below ***
In a terrific example of turning lemons into lemonade, talk radio titan Rush Limbaugh has turned the protest letter signed by Senate Democrats into an opportunity to raise money for a military- run children's charity.
It's just the latest development in what has been a great week for Rush.
First, the left's "phony soldiers" campaign failed to damage his standing and may have done more to mobilize conservatives than anything else.
In addition, a personal appearance in Philadelphia sponsored by affiliate WPHT-AM last night drew a huge crowd, serving as a rallying cry for fans angry over recent attempts by Congressional Democrats and leftists to remove El Rushbo from the airwaves.
Now, Limbaugh has obtained the letter signed by 41 Senate Democrats that was sent to Clear Channel CEO Mark Mays and turned it into an eBay auction for charity. It includes signatures from Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, Ted Kennedy, Reid and others:
Using last night's event to reveal his plans, Limbaugh today discussed the auction on the air and has made the clip available on YouTube:
So far, ten participants have placed 26 bids, with the top amount now standing at $5600. Six days remain in the eBay auction, which requires pre-qualification to deter faux bidding. We'll be watching over the weekend to see how it progresses.
In the meantime, Harry & Company must be wondering what they were thinking when putting their names to a letter denouncing Rush Limbaugh. Why did they do it?
UPDATE: as of 9pm Friday, bidding has reached $10,100! Twenty participants, 41 bids so far. Now $10,300, a clear bidding war underway. As of 11pm: $10,600. 11:15: $10,777. Moving up quickly.
SATURDAY: numbers have jumped through the roof. In the wee small hours of the morning, the $10,777 bid was quickly decimated, overtaken by bids in the $11k range that didn't last an hour. Even the $15k - $16k area didn't hold for long and the top figure is now $17,600.
SATURDAY AFTERNOON: with 34 individuals now participating, 80 bids have been placed, with highest now at $25,400! The $20 - 25k range was blown through very quickly. Keep in mind: the auction is less than 24 hours old! 6pm: $26,100.
SATURDAY EVENING: at 6:17pm, bidding suddenly accelerated, moving straight into the stratosphere. The $25k level was quickly obliterated, as was $30k, which didn't last but a moment. Top gun to beat is newby g-e, who currently leads with $32,100! There are now 35 active participants.
LATE SATURDAY: in the space of two hours, the $30,000 range was left in the dust, with r-4 now leading bidding at $40,200. This is truly amazing.
SUNDAY, NOON: 36 bidders, 95 entries, $40,400. R-4 still on top.
SUNDAY EVENING: after a brief lull, bidding picked up again, no doubt fueled at least in part by headline coverage provided by FOX News and the Drudge Report. Six more have joined in since this morning, with 105 total entries. Four and a half days remain. C-u leads with $44,100.
MONDAY MORNING: C-u jumps back into the lead with an even $45,000 offer.

When "Dingy Harry" Reid and the U.S. Senate turned away from the business of the nation to instead smear a private citizen, forty-one of them sent a letter demanding the "repudiation" of their inaccurate interpretation of Rush Limbaugh's comments about Jesse Al-Zaid (a.k.a. Jesse MacBeth) and other "phony soldiers" who falsify their service. This letter was delivered to Mark Mays of Clear Channel Communications, Rush Limbaugh's syndication partner, and widely quoted in the Drive-By Media.
Up for auction is the original letter signed by 41 Democrat senators. This historic document may well represent the first time in the history of America that this large a group of U.S. senators attempted to demonize a private citizen by lying about his views. As such, it is a priceless memento of the folly of Harry Reid and his 40 senatorial co-signers. BID NOW!
The entire proceeds of this auction.. the entire high bid... will be donated to The Marine Corps - Law Enforcement Foundation, a registered charity which provides financial assistance to the children of fallen Marines and federal law enforcement officers. Rush Limbaugh serves on the Board of this organization and has been active on its behalf. All costs of this auction will be paid by the seller... every dollar of your winning bid will go to this charity, which has to date distributed over $29 million.
Rush first publicly displayed this letter on the night of October 11th during a speech in Philadelphia, having a security operative carry it on stage, with the letter itself safely encased in a Halliburton Attache case handcuffed to the agent's right wrist. Included in this auction is that same Halliburton briefcase, as well as a personal letter from Rush Limbaugh, thanking the winning bidder for his donation. The special handcuffs may not be distributed outside of law enforcement and security officers, and thus are not included in this auction.
As winning bidder, you get:
- The original and infamous "Harry Reid Smear" letter, signed by 41 Democat senators
- The Halliburton briefcase in which this letter is secured 24 hours a day
- A personal letter of thanks from the Man Who Runs America, Rush Limbaugh
- A photograph of Rush displaying the letter on stage in Philadelphia on October 11th

Lemon into Lemonade - that's a perfect analogy Brian.
Not much the libs can do with this, except hope it goes away quickly.
The current bid is up to $21,000.

Notice how silent the Democrats are now?
Minnesota Democrat Amy Klobuchar was one of the Senators who signed the smear letter.
I contacted her office to find out if she would support the troops with a matching contribution to a similar military charity.
Will the Democrats who say they support our troops, step up to the plate, and put their money where their mouths are? I doubt it.
All they want to do is wave the white flag and surrender.

Utter bullshit.
Will this be like the "Freedom Concert" scam, where only one percent was ever earmarked for the poor kids in the first place?
"All they want to do is wave the white flag and surrender."
Amen!!

Current bid is $41,300 with 4 days remaining - and Hashlover says this is utter bullshit.
What a typical response! Even when something good is happening, the lefties have to ridicule it.

We "leftie" have come to distrust every word out of you pseudocons mouths, Benson.
When Brian posts the photo of Rush presenting the big check for the entire amount to representatives of the Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation, then I'll belive it.
The ironic thing is that Rush appears to sound so magnanimous in this gesture. If he'd really like to be generous, he'd match the final total by a few multiples. Not like he can't afford it. But I guess he feels he's done enough by "lending his name" to the board (I don't imagine Rush has been at too many meetings.) But that's how nancyhawks are. They always chamspion something but expect others to make the sacrifices.
Sorry. Not impressed.

Rush is matching the final bid.
Looking forward to your humble acceptance next week!

"match by a couple of multiples"...? How about a multiple of 100%? The winning bid was 2,100,000. Rush is matching 2,100,000. Perhaps you need to quit judging the motives and actions of men like Rush in accordance to the behavior of those you support. Those from the left have been crying crocodile tears of how George Bush is trampling the Constitution, and here we have the Legislative Branch of the Government, led by those same people, putting themselves on public record of trying to silence a private citizen. Each one of those 41 Senators, Harry & Hillary included, took an oath in which they swore to uphold the Constitution of the United States. Actions do indeed speak louder than words.

Bloody amazing! Twenty-two hours after the auction has ended, Dingy Harry has tried to steal credit for the millions raised. Yet, not a single one of the phony patriots that signed the letter has offered a farthing in support of foundation!
Nowhere in the MSM is the Limbaugh contribution being recognized, nor has anyone in the MSM gotten the story correct.
True story is: Phony patriots from the left and Senate tried to sell a series of lies about Limbaugh to the world. Having been caught and beaten severely with their lies the MSM is now burying the truth.
