Cape: Why Does This Surprise People?

Is it that we don't expect college students to be involved in drug trafficking? If this foolish 18-year-old were simply a high school dropout, maybe this wouldn't even be a story.

Who knows, she could be a whiz at her studies, but that doesn't mean a person has common sense:

(Boston Herald) A Martha's Vineyard teenager was busted yesterday for allegedly trafficking $30,000 worth of cocaine and heroin from the mainland onto the island, state police said.
Hannah Garde, 18, was nabbed about 12:45 p.m. yesterday as she got off the ferry in Vineyard Haven. Massachusetts State Police and Martha's Vineyard Drug Task Force officers got a tip that Garde was carrying drugs.
The University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth student was allegedly carrying 256 grams of cocaine and 22 grams of heroin, said Sgt. Jeff Stone of the Oak Bluffs state police barracks. The drugs were stuffed into her jacket, police said.
